as much as i’m baffled by this “actually sliwa is kinda cool” narrative from libs and leftists rehabilitating this right-winger who happens to hate cuomo more than he fears leftism—they’re right that his heart is in it.

curtis sliwa is everything trump supporters say trump is.
“Bill Ackman is a Jerk. He doesn’t even live in NYC…. This is called voting. Since when do we not let people vote? Billionaires determine the next mayor? If they don’t like it they can leave.”

🔥 @CurtisSliwa on the rich trying to pay him to drop out to help Trump’s buddy Cuomo

it’s beginning to look like ted cruz and even marjorie taylor greene have more integrity than little marco rubio...and that’s an indictment on the type of “moderate” politician that america tends to trust

as much as i find jimmy kimmel annoying, he is the latest victim of MAGA cancel culture. see, i side with even people who i loathe when their freedoms are taken away. i thought that was the right’s whole thing?

not that we shouldn’t criticize public figures—we absolutely should. but rather than projecting expectations of perfection onto them, we should expect that they listen, understand and change. to admit the imperfections of the dead is to set reasonable standards for critiquing living public figures
September 18, 2025 at 12:04 AM
while kirk was no gandhi or mlk, even those two figures have problematic aspects—yet their efforts were indispensible. when we make martyrs of people, it reinforces the expectation that public figures have to be perfect—or else one bigoted opinion devalues everything else they’ve said or done
September 18, 2025 at 12:04 AM
our focus should not just be on individuals who engage in bigotry, but the culture, the system as a whole. people are not the best or worst things they said—but words hold weight. and simply pointing out kirk’s rough edges isn’t downplaying the horror that he had to go this way—it honors his memory
September 18, 2025 at 12:04 AM
the left, going forward, must admit that regardless of who “deserved” to be canceled, the way it was done—thru social media mobs, media & corpos going “woke” and firing accused, shitty media men lists—can be turned on us at any moment. and this isn’t to say don’t speak up against racism, sexism, etc
September 18, 2025 at 12:04 AM
the right (& centrists now) frame kirk as this lover of dialectic who went to liberal campuses to hear differing perspectives & find mutual understanding. obv that’s not what kirk actually stood for. if it was, his fanbase would follow his supposed example and try to engage with us, not cancel us
September 18, 2025 at 12:04 AM
hot take: liberals & leftists used to dismiss the notion that the 2010s cancel culture—accusations leading to censors, firings—was systemic censorship, bc “private companies aren’t bound by 1A”

but now that they’re feeling it themselves, they (rightfully) see it as a chilling effect on free speech
Suddenly "hate speech" is bad. Suddenly "dehumanizing" people is bad. Suddenly "cancel culture" is good. Suddenly words have consequences.

The modern American right in 2025, folks.

i thought they were “america first”? we have cities in this country that could use a little bit of revitalizing, and no i don’t mean sending the national guard in to terrorize black people

i think people would appreciate her bringing up her story more if she went beyond invoking it as a political cudgel to go after immigrants and trans people

A reminder that Trump called Baltimore a 'hellhole' today to no controversy or scandalous headlines.

Imagine a Democratic president calling a red state or red city a hellhole.

Just imagine.

Oh, the double standards.
