The new Star Trek shows keep doing some weird digital skin smoothing on some of their cast. I remember seeing it in Discovery a few times, but they were constantly doing it heavily to Gray. Now in Starfleet Academy, they're hammering Genesis and Tarima super heavily.

Even if we ignore that the fascist secret police are using this as a tactic now, don't scan random QR codes in general. This is literally like clicking a link you don't know. Given how trusting everybody has become of those stupid things, I'm stunned more people's accounts don't get compromised.
I have been told that this undercover ICE agent tried to get observers to scan a QR code “for his website”. The QR code did not resolve to a link.

Every day some story breaks me some. Today it’s the guy who approached parents at a school patrol, told them he was with Indivisible, and asked about how the patrol system works. The parents gave vague answers, followed him back to his car — and of course it was ICE.

This is real issue. At a previous job, I dealt with CSAM as in Cyber Security Assessment and Management. It legit took me a bit to figure out what the hell everybody was talking about in regards to Twitter and Grok. Gotta use language people understand if you want them to care.
To a lot of people the statemrnt "Grok creates CSAM" will read as a "tech headline" they bypass.
"Grok creates child porn" is a much more visceral statement that will grab someone's attention and THEN you can explain why we don't use that term anymore.

Stayed up way too late, but finished the last 3 chapters of Dispatch. Really enjoyed it a lot. The dispatch game was a fun (but stressful) puzzle to figure out and I was really into the story. And Laura Bailey is a vocal chameleon... I don't think I've ever actually recognized her voice in anything

Hurt my knee watching TV. Didn't do anything to it, just noticed it was getting more and more sore, then couldn't put any weight on it the next day. Couldn't hike for 2 years.
Here's the problem. Trump has spent the last year verifying that the other reps in the gov are so far up his ass that he can do anything unopposed, and he's spent the last 4yrs watching the world's response to Russia & Isreal. He knows he pretty much has a free hand at this stage.

Of all the groups that Facebook forces me to look at that I'm not a member of, there's a sick irony to the fact that it's the Mass Effect groups of all things that are utterly overrun by AI sycophants.

Don't know that I can think of anything I'd consider a win in 2025. Guess we'll see what 2026 has... dangerous words to put out there, but it theoretically can't be any worse.

Me thinking I was so clever in figuring out how to get Sciel's engine started in combat, only to find the ONLY mechanic that apparently doesn't stack with combo attacks.

Jesus H, I had the weirdest stout from a brewery. Felt 100% fine leaving (didn't leave right away, chilled for a bit, had a couple sodas). 2 hours after getting home, that stout is rearing up and deciding that I'm NOW gonna be feeling somewhere between tipsy and drunk. What the shit?

Finally started an Expedition 33 New Game+. Not loving it so far since it's clearly not balanced for a bunch of lvl95 badasses. But on the occasion I hit an enemy that puts up a fight, managing to parry a whole combo still hits the ol' dopamine receptors right in the happy spot.
