With the arrival of so many Twitter exiles to BlueSky this week, I created a CCFC fans starter pack. Let me know who I've missed. #pusb
6.5m for Ben Sheaf with 10 months remaining on his contract would be sensational business. In his prime he was irreplaceable, but that hasn't been the case for a long time now. I was almost resigned to his career with us quietly tailing off and losing him on a free next summer. #pusb

Feels like the kind of role George Osborne would inexplicably blag his way into

Good morning. I spent a few days interviewing people who lost their record collections in the wildfires for this @stereogum.bsky.social feature. A heartbreaking piece to write, but in the end it only reaffirmed my love for collecting physical media.
"I Lost A Part Of My Personality": The Pain Of Losing Your Entire Record Collection In A Wildfire
When Jesse Kahn imagined what it would be like to be a father, he thought about music. He imagined introducing his future daughter to his favorite records.

Don’t want to get carried away, but Matt Grimes is as close to my ideal signing as we could have made in this window. Vast Championship experience, dependable, a leader, a role model, statistics stack up, midfield was somewhat short.

This week's review covers Thunder Perfect Mind, the new record by Canadian trio Motherhood.

Lots to love about this one for those into slightly off-kilter garage/surf/punk rock.

Give it a read, give the album a listen, let me know what you thought and consider liking/subscribing. 🙏
Motherhood - Thunder Perfect Mind
A rip-roaring half-an-hour of art, surf, garage, psych and punk rock built on tight rhythmic foundations and a sense of pure, unrestrained fun.

Normally I don’t like to see the demise of any sports club for the sake of its fans and role in the local community, but since this gross entity has no local community, I’ll make an exception.

Disgusting club that should never have had anything to do with Coventry.

Good riddance.

It became clear to me a while ago that continuing to use X was morally indefensible. With the latest nonsense from Meta, the same more or less applies to Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads (lol). The whole surveillance capitalism model was already deeply uncomfortable.

Most frustrating thing with us this season is it’s the same issues recurring week in week out. No leadership, careless defending, no creativity, ineffective strikers. Minimal signs of improvement (under Robins or Lampard) and it’s just boring to talk about at this point. #pusb

Not emotionally prepared for Mark Robins as Stoke manager whatsoever #pusb

I know no one wants to hear this, but the form since Mark Robins was sacked, especially taking into account the quality of the opposition, is probably worst-case-scenario if Robins had stayed. #pusb

Embarrassing from us today. Ultimately Doug King has to take responsibility for where the club is right now. He’s placed himself right at the heart of things and we look an absolute state, from the GKs and defence to overall recruitment and coaching. #pusb

I don't know why specifically this winds me up so much, but the manufactured/idiotic rage around the TIME Person of the Year has tipped me over the edge. The ignorance, the leaping to conclusions, the inability to do basic research, the moral righteousness.

This thread is exactly where I’m at. Increasingly hate being online. At some point in the past 5 years or so the scales tipped and the internet stopped serving me and I began serving it.
I wish people just blogged still. Get a dumb Wordpress domain, write your thoughts, I’ll check in now and again. Not everything needs to be that hustled. And nothing needs video. Or notes. Or an app.

The standard of our defence (inc. GK) since, I guess McFadzean’s departure, has hamstrung us so much. Lineup never settled, sloppy errors inevitable, negligible leadership. You can’t meaningfully compete if you’re consistently having to score 2-3 in order to pick up points. #pusb
