44 Palestinian Christians have been killed in the conflict in Gaza. But rather than pushing the people doing it The USG is arming and supporting them.

This ain’t about protecting Christians, folks.

Here's the deal, says USDOJ to states: we're going to send you lists of voters we think are ineligible, and you're going to take them off the rolls. That "would hand the federal govt a major role in election admin, a responsibility that belongs to the states under the U.S. Constitution." [Stateline]

So two paths for Weiss: 1. Never run the story, confirming her intent to spike it., 2. Modifying the story and running it, likely with pro-Administration content, confirming her motivation for pulling it in the first place.
Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

Quiz: in what other period in American history were human beings treated as commodities?
“.. We need to get better at treating this like a business,” ICE acting director Todd M. Lyons said .. as efficiently as Amazon moves packages: “Like Prime, but with human beings.”

One answer to this question is the evaporation of public bipartisan advocacy for Uyghurs because Republicans decline to speak of publicly for fear of appearing to confront Trump. Thus the decrease in noise from Capitol Hill leads to this impression. www.economist.com/china/2025/1...

One party wants to wipe away student debt. The other party wants to garish workers’ wages to pay off lenders. It is unclear which would help borrowers more.

Dissolution and liquidation of Heritage would in no way compensate or provide justice for its role in the dissolution and liquidation of USAID and the multitude of other agencies through Project 2025. But it would provide a bit of solace.
The dissolution of the Heritage Foundation and liquidation of its assets will be bloodless if the few remaining fascist swine allow it to be.

Invoking Reagan's "welfare queens" trope to convey Trump's anti-immigrant message really does show the enduring if not requisite role of racism in GOP political thought.
Rep. Comer: "The early numbers that I'm getting in on the Somalis in Minnesota is 75% of the Somalis in Minnesota are on full government assistance. That's full welfare."

It’s been years since I was a shipbuilding-knower, but I am quite confident in saying that, in the age of drone (air and undersea) warfare, naval strategists assess large surface platforms as a really stupid idea.
President Trump will announce on Monday a new type of large warship he is calling “battleships,” marking a step toward achieving the president’s vision for a new “Golden Fleet.”

The new warship will be the latest in what the White House envisions as a “Golden Fleet.”
