Father, husband, Willamette Bearcat, Portland Trail Blazers fan, and Oregon's 30th Secretary of State.
Two big losses in one day. Avel Gordly recognized the urgent need to confront the injustices rooted in our state’s history. She was a leader who not only spoke truth, but took meaningful action and delivered lasting results. (1/2)

It’s just a distraction.
Please focus on the real issues at hand, Mr. President.

Last month, Indiana’s Secretary of State, Diego Morales, and I made a friendly wager on the outcome of the Peach Bowl. Well… the game didn’t go quite the way we hoped, but I am a man of my word. Enjoy the hazelnuts—because next year we’ll be coming back hungry for that popcorn. #goducks #orpol

Just this week, the President said the U.S. should "nationalize" elections and called out Oregon specifically as a state he wants to meddle in. I've got one thing to say: Not on my watch.

The threats to our elections have been growing since January of last year, but this past week alone, the temperature started rising, fast and dangerous.

I’m proud to unveil my office’s new plan for performance audits. When I was elected to Secretary of State, I promised to revamp Oregon's state agency auditing system to help rebuild trust in your state government & to make sure your state tax dollars have the impact you deserve.

Oregon is the gold standard when it comes to making sure that elections are fair, accessible, accurate & secure. So, when anyone pushes back against that, you have to question what's their problem w/ more citizens voting & being accurately counted? Listen to my recent interview w/ @zerlinamaxwell.

When they went after our voter data, the Trump administration went too far — and now there are consequences. When we stand up to these bullies, we win.

This administration thinks they can push through every boundary, every check on their power, but they ran into a brick wall in Oregon. We will not turn over private voter data to a federal government that has no respect for the American people or their rights. We will not be bullied.

Oregonians rely on these financial reports to keep their local governments accountable, and they have every right to expect municipalities provide this information promptly.

My heart is heavy with the news and images coming out of Minnesota. Our country is suffocating under the pressure and divisiveness of this administration. While we're still learning the facts, some things are clear: There is no compassion, no deescalation and no restraint.

Yesterday, we had another massive win for protecting Oregonians’ privacy & the rule of law with @agdanrayfield.bsky.social. Trump's DOJ tried to sue Oregon after we refused to hand over your private data: SSNs, birthdays - all tied to your voting record. The federal court sided with us. #orpol
