Black cat with leg bone showing. 💔 Urgent Help Needed for an Injured Feral Cat 💔 On Christmas Eve, Elainie reached out to us about a feral cat she had seen who was badly injured. Then the cat disappeared. Days passed, and she feared the worst. On Saturday, Elainie saw the cat again and immediately contacted us. Today, Sheila brought her a trap, and thanks to Elainie’s patience and care, the cat was safely trapped within about an hour. That alone is remarkable—and a testament to how much people in our community care about the animals on this island. This cat is in critical condition. They have lost part of a leg, and the bone is exposed. Tomorrow we are bringing them to Progressive Veterinary Hospital, hoping that amputation is possible and that we can give them a real chance to survive. If surgery can be done, we will also need a safe place for recovery—either continued veterinary care or a quiet home where the cat can heal in a large crate. We don’t yet know what the outcome will be. What we do know is that this cat deserves compassion, dignity, and every chance we can give. We are asking for help to cover: • Emergency veterinary care • Possible amputation surgery • Post-op care, medication, and recovery needs This is hopefully our last plea for funds before the new year, and all donations are tax-deductible. Every dollar truly matters, and every share helps. We are so deeply grateful for this community—for Elainie, for Sheila, and for everyone who looks out for animals who cannot ask for help themselves. The babies are back at my place. They met new people, cats, and a dog friend. They are S/N and ready for adoption!

Juniper is suture free. She was a good girl all day. Nerves gave her some loose stool while at vet(perfect poop all week). They tested her and saw some Cx. Sent Albon… I gave her ponazuril. IYKYK!

Juniper:
Crate door has been open 5 days. The first few days I could see signs that she had been up on all the things, but was always hiding in crate when I came in. Today she was watching out the window. Let me pet her &did not hide when I was in and out 4x.

This was Juniper yesterday morning before moving to my place. She is scared but not aggressive in anyway.

Today I left her with reggae radio on to help get her used to voices.

I can now stop calling this girl “amputation kitty”. Meet Juniper. She is healing well and getting more used to being touched. She is nervous not reactive or aggressive.
She has started sleeping on the incision site so it must be feeling better.

Update: Amputation kitty was just released from the hospital. She goes back on the 12th for suture removal. Soon we will know her personality.

Update on amputation kitty. They just sent us a photo. Looks like she was nursing kittens, so now the frantic search will start. 😭
Momma will stay at clinic till Friday and then go to a foster.

Well, many hours later and still haven’t caught the jar head baby. When I went back at 4:30 they were making their way back home. I got very close a few times. Even got a net over them, but they twisted out. So frustrating. I need to invest in a cat one.

The babies are moving to another foster today to get exposure to more people, cats, and a dog. They are big enough for s/n but the clinic is on break for the holidays. They will be available for adoption in about 2 weeks. This time of year we usually have more flight options. realcruzancats.org

The Trump admin removed a congressionally mandated report on missing & murdered Native Americans from the Dept of Justice’s website to comply with an EO against diversity, equity& inclusion. It’s not back online. The act provided tribes w solutions to combat missing & murdered Indigenous people.

24 cans of Friskies is $18. This is why so many animals on island are dumped.
We supply 100’s of pounds of cat food a month for colony feeders and the elderly, so they can keep their cats.

Empress was adopted, a couple of weeks ago, here on island. She was an instant fit with her new human but resident cat was put out. He screamed and hissed and bit his human… the kitten was in a closed room. Within a week he decided he might want to be friends. All is well now.

Empress showing her true laid back personality, greeting all guests, giving good snuggles, and even winning over the jealous resident cat, Patrick. This home turned out to be a great match.
