You deserve to make enough money to buy games, books, food, and furniture for the amount they actually cost.

You deserve to afford artisanal content and services.

You deserve housing and transit.

The issue isn't the cost of the thing. It's that you're not being paid enough.

Really sad to see Hoyo fans go from saying “Hoyo wouldn’t replace striking actors, that would be evil” to “well of course they replaced the striking actors, they were striking.”

Got in a very brief argument on reddit with someone claiming that it was entirely SAG-Aftra's fault that actors were suffering because of the strike.

No. That is incorrect.

Some studios have signed interim agreements. If corporations are being greedy, that's on them for being motherfuckers.

The closer certain fandoms come to realizing that the corporations they support are at fault, the harder their brains will attempt to convince themselves it's the striking workers who are to blame, or the people controlling the strike.

Support striking actors. They are fighting for their futures.

Clarifying stuff I've seen regarding the strike recently:

-Anyone can work on a SAG contract, Union, non-union, US, international, etc.
-The SAG Interim Tiered Budget Agreement has options for indie and lower-budget video games.
-Unpaid Game Jam waivers exist, and are negotiated per project

i know it happened a long, long time ago. but the moment entertainment and creative fields became about profit margins and happy shareholders, was the moment the spirit of art began to die.

If you’re just learnin about the video game strike, I wanna clarify a key detail I’ve seen get distorted a lot: Generally, the *developer* decides whether to sign an interim agreement, not the recording studio. Often, the studio is only a middleman. They do not set this term.

one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much
