Tomorrow, the US House considers the text of a new budget reconciliation bill introduced by Kentucky Congressman Brett Guthrie.

The bill contains harmful cuts to Medicaid. It also contains a provision that would prevent states from regulating AI at all…
FOR 10 YEARS.

Last week, two voice actors for Hoyoverse game Zenless Zone Zero were recast because they were withholding work due to the SAG-AFTRA Interactive strike.

In these videos, we discuss what happened, why the actors chose to withhold work, and what all this has to do with the threat of AI.

If you’re just learnin about the video game strike, I wanna clarify a key detail I’ve seen get distorted a lot: Generally, the *developer* decides whether to sign an interim agreement, not the recording studio. Often, the studio is only a middleman. They do not set this term.

There are many contracts out there with AI protections, but only SAG Interim & Tiered Budget Contracts provide actors with a legal team to enforce the contract at no cost. Legal fees are expensive, and many actors would have to go into debt to enforce our own contracts if they were violated.

Hey proxies,

I was replaced as Soldier 11 because I am unwilling to perform work not covered by a SAG Interim Agreement during a strike for AI protection, the outcome of which will determine the future of our industry.

Any other theories that pop up are incorrect.

Clarifying stuff I've seen regarding the strike recently:

-Anyone can work on a SAG contract, Union, non-union, US, international, etc.
-The SAG Interim Tiered Budget Agreement has options for indie and lower-budget video games.
-Unpaid Game Jam waivers exist, and are negotiated per project

Hey all! If you don’t see voice actors commenting on IPs affected by the video game strike or are confused by non-specific responses to questions, all of that is likely because actors are under NDA for a lotttt of things at any given time and probably can’t talk about it.

I cannot stress this enough. Support your fellow actor. This is not the time to get a “come up”. We are fighting for a better industry not just for us but for future generations to come.
Reminder: If you see auditions for beloved characters that are already cast in games, please reach out to that actor so you can verify it’s not a recast. If it is, please DO NOT audition for it. We are all making hard choices during the strike, and we will only win this thing if we stand together 💕

Hey guys, SAG is still striking over AI protections. So the next time you want to ask me why english actors in a game are not going into record, GO LOOK AT WHY WE ARE STRIKING. It is much more complicated than switching studios. All the information is available on SAG/AFTRA'S website about why.

“But I heard the videogame strike was over”

“But I heard it was just Formosa and it’s been resolved”

“But I heard-“

There’s lots of misinformation about the strike.

What matters is what you’re not hearing - the voices of actors who are still striking.

It's 2025 and SAG-AFTRA is still on strike for a fair Interactive contract that provides adequate consent and compensation when generative AI uses our voices and likenesses in video games #sagaftrastrong #levelupthecontract

Happy 2025 besties! While it’s a brand new year, we actors are STILL very much on strike. So a reminder that if you’re seeing voices left silent in any games right now, it’s a good indicator that the game isn’t on one of the few safe contracts to work right now.

Re: some misinfo—

while there are certain projects & studios that are specifically struck, technically doing any game work rn that’s not on an Interim/TBA SAG agreement

A) leaves your voice vulnerable to being fed to AI
B) undermines/slows the progress of the strike for everyone

Let’s be a team!
A reminder for Bluesky: if you see voice actors *not* talking about projects they’ve done & wonder why that might be, it’s most likely because of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA Interactive strike!

If you are an actor, fan, lover of games, watch these videos and share so that you can be properly informed on the strike. Why many of us are STILL striking. & how we can end this. I have seen so much misinformation being spread that can be harmful to us winning this thing.💥
Congratulations to the MANY games signed to our interim & tiered budget agreements! It’s a clear sign that our efforts are working (we resumed negotiations 10/23). Now’s a great time to revisit what it’s gonna take to get a fair contract. One day longer, one day stronger, folks!🧵
