Queer Appalachian ex-pat writer who loves all things pop culture. My debut queer Appalachian rom-com, Country Road Romance, is available now.
What a great writing day. I FINALLY hit the moment I'd been waiting for in my new queer Appalachian romance, and with that, the rest of the story suddenly falls into place. Pages headed to the editor this weekend, so I can start revising/finishing this draft next week! Let's goooo!

But, since the billionaires and their political cronies seem intent on totally demolishing American literacy, it's up to all of us to do our part to encourage our friends, our families, and our children to read, to think, to create, and to love. It's time to reclaim the local.

I'm gutted, but not surprised, by the huge layoffs at WaPo. The enshittification of literally every institution or bastion of American literacy in America continues apace. God. What a time to be alive. (Also fuk Jeff Bezos).

Happy Wednesday, everyone! For today's edition of Omnivorous I reviewed the most recent episode of Spartacus: House of Ashur, which was a truly devastating, and amazing, episode of historical television. If you're not watching this show, you should be!

A good spicy scene is often a key ingredient in a lot of MM romance and romantasy, including my own. But what goes into making an effective one? I have some thoughts of course! How about you? What do you think makes for an effective spicy scene in your favorite MM romances?

It was a very good writing day. Sending off some pages of Hittin' the Right Note to my editor at the end of this week. Still gunning for an April release, so I gotta get the drafting done so revision can begin!

Let's do this!

While I can see why others would do it, I simply can't bear to look at my Goodreads ratings/reviews any longer. As others have said, GR is a safe space for readers, and what they think of my books is frankly none of my business. (I will continue to post my own reviews there, though).

The hills and mountains of Appalachia play a vital role in my queer romance fiction, shaping my characters, their love, and their world. I’m proud to be from a place so steeped in history, and my work reflects that.

The second volume of my queer Appalachian romance is now tentatively titled, "A Bond of Beauty and Madness." Bonds will be tested, hearts will be broken, and a continent will be plunged into all-out war as Titus and Aemon are drawn into more rebellion, and Galeria loses her own heart to revolution.

Hello, everyone! For today's edition of Omnivorous I reviewed the most recent episode of The Pitt. It was a bit of a holding episode, but it had a lot of humor. Plus, the specter of things to come looms in the background. Another must-watch!

Happy Monday, everyone! For today's edition of Omnivorous I reviewed Train Dreams, which is truly a gift of a film. Beautiful, transcendent, and at times violent, it's a moving portrait of one man's life and, through him, American history itself.

I've been asked to be a part of the Hidden Holler Author/Book Fair in April, hosted in Fairmont, West Virginia. Reader, I couldn't accept fast enough! I love spending time talking about my books with fellow folks in the Mountain State, and I can't wait for this event!

The world sucks, but look at this face.

Oof. This fucking sucks. She was truly a remarkable comedic talent, one who brought such nuance and depth to even outlandish characters like Moira. What a treasure the world has lost.

I love all of Lev AC Rosen's books, and I'd put this one at #2 when it comes to the Evander Mills series. This one is hard to read in places, but it excels, as does the series, at queering the noir novel. Definitely worth a read!

Happy Friday, everyone! For today's edition of Omnivorous I reviewed The Daughters' War, one of my favorite fantasy reads of recent memory. Beautiful and brutal and heartbreaking, it's a must-read!

Good morning, everyone! For today's edition of Omnivorous I reviewed the second episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is both funny and poignant, further evidence that this just might be my favorite Westeros show.
