Since I shared/reposted a CBC article about Neil Young quitting Meta b/c of its lax AI moderation, my post has been shared 80-plus times, and I've been spammed and fake-followed incessantly. There's something ironic (& maddening) about that particular post bringing out the spambots.

I'm not all 'defund the police' but this kind of bs is the reason why people say it. Why should the public/media have to police the police? I'm pro-union, by and large, but not when protecting 'brotherhoods' leads to protecting this kind of bs: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Seriously, this guy should never lead a small company, much less be a mayor of a major city.
I took a look at some of the YouTube interviews Vancouver’s mayor has been doing on Bitcoin, and what he says is pretty wild.

When I asked an economist about these theories he said, “This is not economics, this is — I don’t know what to call it.”

I was just at the newly revamped bus exchange in North Van marvelling at how well they landscaped it from a concrete wasteland, with drought-tolerant pollinator-friendly plants & rain gardens. All over the lower mainland, I’m seeing civic gardeners proving how sustainable gardens can be gorgeous.
As a resident of the dry high desert that is Calgary I have long revered Vancouver’s rainy reality. And now they are getting very clever about managing this natural advantage. Gift 🎁 article:
Vancouver can’t stop the rain, but it can control where it ends up

My father was part of the rescue effort and would only speak of it once then never again. I think about those men, including my father, every time I look at/travel across the bridge. Looking at this photo, it shocks me to see how much the North Shore landscape has changed.
The Ironworkers Memorial Bridge collapsed on June 17, 1958 killing 18 men, and one diver the following day. It is the worst industrial accident in Vancouver’s history. Angus Stewart shot this and other photos immediately after the tragedy. Story: evelazarus.com/the-day-the-...
