For his many faults, Justin Trudeau is someone who can meet the moment in a crisis. That was a Prime Minister speaking directly and frankly with the Canadian people. Honestly, he's probably still the best person in Canada to deal with the Trump disaster, except so many people hate him.

We (all of humanity) absolutely cannot let this lunatic dictate the course of history. Countries need to stand up and say, "Nope."
Trump, asked if he'll consider withholding aid to Jordan and Egypt if they don't take in Gazans, says "I don't have to threaten... we contribute a lot of money to Jordan and to Egypt. A lot. But I don't have to threaten."

Get bent, Donny. You are costing your country billions of dollars with these disgusting statements.
“Without the U.S, Canada doesn’t really have a country.” — Trump today, while once again threatening tariffs and again saying we should become a state.

Think about that statement.

Can ANY American possibly not understand how OUTRAGEOUSLY INSULTING that is to your closest friend & ally?

Seriously?

An absolute banger of a column from @namshine.bsky.social: www.tvo.org/article/anal...

“Canada is and will continue to be the North Star. It is home. We don’t want to go anywhere else — and some of us have nowhere else to go.”

We can be proud, despite our flaws.

This isn’t just a moronic lie.

It’s more than an insult against an ally.

Trump is using disinformation to justify applying unwarranted & hugely mutually damaging tariffs as a tactic to try to force an ally into giving up its sovereignty.

It’s a hostile takeover attempt. Or overt economic warfare.
Trump: "We're gonna be demanding respect from other nations. Canada, we have a tremendous deficit with Canada. We're not gonna have that anymore. As you probably know, I say you can always become a state. If you're a state, we won't have a deficit, we won't have to tariff you."

We may yet disabuse Trump of the notion that countries are like businesses and he can just find the guy he wants to deal with and work something out with him.
Buddy, you deal with who we elect, you don’t “make a few calls.” You talk to the Prime Minister, you don’t demand to speak to the maître d’.
