I’m also delighted to announce an exhibition to mark the 235th anniversary of the death of the almost entirely forgotten architect John Meadows. He was the architect of a number of lost houses in Devon and elsewhere, the exhibition will bring some of those places to life again. #art #architecture

I am delighted to announce that my new works will soon be available from the Churchgate Gallery in Porlock, Somerset.

Given that so much of my work focuses on our ancient churches and other buildings of curiosity, I could not think of a more apt location than this wonderful gallery. #art #fineart

One of the things I love most about Arlington is the mists. This morning’s chilly start had the valleys draped in white.

Working up the layers on a new piece. This is a piece I have been mulling over in one way, shape or form for about five years, but didn’t have the creative outlet to capture the image in my mind. Hopefully in the next few days I’ll, at last, be able to look upon the completed work. #art

Hobart’s Mausoleum, Blickling, Norfolk

As a child I was taken to walk on the Blickling estate many, many times. In retrospect, I think this place has played a formative role in the things in life I find aesthetically pleasing and intriguing.

This work from September marks a transition point. The process of painting one specific passage inspired an epiphany that changed my artistic direction.

For the first time I am offering this unique piece for sale, if you’d like to find out more please message me here: timgodden.co.uk/contact #art

This morning’s sunrise, viewed from my studio window. Another of the infinite framings of this tree that inspire me daily.

A beautiful, and somewhat rare, frosty start to the day here at Arlington.

Opening in March @wiltshiremuseum.bsky.social is another exhibition I look forward to visiting: John Piper in the South Country.

The Wiltshire Museum really is a gem, they have so many wonderful shows and they’re always worth the trip.

I’ve had an influx of followers over the weekend, so here’s a bit about me.

After a decade as a military history illustrator my artwork now consists mainly of pieces relating to architecture and memory. Alongside this, I am writing my first book relating to memorialisation and the Great War.

All set up for this weekend’s cyclocross race on the estate - the last race of the South West CX season. Here’s the poster I designed for the race. #cyclocross

Happy New Year to you all! A beautiful sunrise over Arlington on the first weekend of the year. Hopefully it is a sign of a year to be filled with such peace and beauty.

At a time of year when our thoughts drift to the places of the bible, mine also go to the men who experienced their last Christmas in them.

Remembering my Gt Gt Uncle Bertie, killed on this day in 1917 serving with 2/Civil Service Rifles, just to the north of Jerusalem. #ww1

Beautiful, crisp weather for a Boxing Day walk across the estate up to the place I call Sir John’s prospect and then back through the park. A walk filled with views of Arlington not many realise exist, or bother to seek out.

A suitably wintery scene for this year's Triskele Heritage Christmas Lecture - a field barn at Nether Haddon (Derbys) surrounded by the earthworks of Roman fields, a mediaeval village, and post-mediaeval lead mining.
