Yes, he's throwing the operational commander under the bus. But that whole chain of command has some explaining to do
Hegseth: I watch that first strike live. At the Department of War, we got a lot of things to do so I did not stick around. Couple of hours later, I learned that commander had made -- which he had the complete authority to do, he made the correct decision to sink the boat and eliminated the threat.

On 7/8, govt changed 29 yrs of statutory interpretation & announced that detention was mandatory for the vast majority of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. On 11/26, Judge Kaplan calculated that of 362 cases testing the new policy since then, 350 had gone against govt (left); 12 for (right).
