I wrote this - about the fact that social housing is typically let with bare floorboards, and about the brilliant woman from St Albans who's on a mission to help people on low incomes carpet their homes.

This Radio 2 listener sent us proof of their stress-inducing unread emails.
But then listener Claire from Edinburgh took the gold medal with a staggering 523,321 unread. Beat that!

If you’re a uk politics/transport/urban policy person (you’re on Bluesky) then the winter timetable on east coast mainline will be such an interesting mess. The public in mid-sized towns slowly realising they’ve been sacrificed for faster London > Edinburgh trains. www.thecomet.net/news/2544425...
MP says Stevenage 'paying the price' as LNER set to stop trains to and from London

For radio journalists, the iPhone’s built-in call-recording facility (since iOS 18.1) is incredible.
Today I called a contributor on FaceTime Audio and hit the record button, then emailed it to myself and it was on air shortly after.
There have been other ways to do this for years but this is better

🧵 In February, I got a message from Anna*, a female police officer. She was a domestic abuse specialist, responding daily to calls from women abused by their partners.

But she was also in an abusive marriage herself, for more than a decade - and her abuser was another officer.

Chapter #1329 in expensive rail travel.
We're a family of four planning a three hour journey next month.
Return trip fuel cost by car ~£40 (plus car wear and tear etc).
Return trip by rail - if booked with advance fares over a month in advance: £242.
Sustainable travel, unsustainable pricing.

It never fails to bring me joy that one of London's top guitar repair/maintenance people is called Kevin, has a workshop on an upstairs floor, and so has called his business "Stairway to Kevin".

We took the decision today to voice up and read out, on Radio 2, every word of John Hunt's victim impact statement. At ten minutes precisely it must be the longest monologue we've ever broadcast. We did so with good reason - give it a read if you haven't: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Nerd fact of the day: the ship and the tanker in the North Sea sea technically 'allided'. It's simpler to say it was a collision but some seafarers would say 'allision'.
It's a nautical term to indicate a moving ship striking a stationary object - such as another ship.

Right who's in charge of the PR for mice, please? Because they're having a quite incredible week and it's only Tuesday.
(At this rate I guess the whole PR outfit is run by the mice themselves).
