When I was a short wave listener back in the very early 80s, I always wanted one of these, but as a schoolboy, no chance I could afford one. Found one on eBay the other day. Very nice to use.

Best DX yet with the Quansheng on 2m and 70cm CW, just over 100 miles (170km) to EI8KN.

Put a Quansheng on 10m CW today! Albeit using an old Microwave Modules 2m/10m transverter. The receiver was struggling a bit, but usable. 7W out of the transverter made it to the USA.

50W of FT8 and a vertical doing ok on 2m at the moment. A coastal location does help ! Great tropo over the last few days.

Over the last couple of days around 1530 UTC I have been having fun looking for West Coast Canada and USA on 7MHz via the long path. Heard it was possible years ago but I’ve never made contacts over that path. Brilliant fun.

Go back 45 years (gulp) and I was just getting into shortwave listening, WRTH was my ‘go to’ publication. It’s a big thrill, all those years later, to be contributing, in a small way to the book. 2025 publication arrived today.

Spectacular 6m opening this afternoon. Heard a station in the Galapagos briefly and a couple of west coast US stations.

Nice evening for a walk. Spotted a meteor too. I always about this lyric by the wonderful Billy Bragg when I do.

‘I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them but they were only satellites
Is it wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care’ 😊

This is one of the stones at Waun Mawn in the Preselis. An interesting site which raises many questions! #StandingStoneSunday

CT9/HA5JI is so loud on 10m this morning. You can just hear the ‘I’ at the end of his callsign as an echo.
