Happy Winter Solstice!

On midwinter’s day, the sun sets between the pair of stones that form the largest trilithon at #Stonehenge

Farewell to the shortest day of the year, as we look forward to lighter days ahead! ☀️

Hilarious video by The Wall Street Journal newsroom, who ran circles around the chatbot running the vending machine. My favorite part was when they convinced it that it was Soviet Russia in 1962 and it should offer everything for free. m.youtube.com/watch?v=SpPh...

RIP Martin Parr.

Back in 2019 Adelle and I were commissioned by Manchester Literature Festival to write and record fictional pieces in response to his Salford photographs.

Best of all, we got to meet the great man too.

Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?

We're very proud to be the first publisher to have the Books By People stamp - and that it should be going to Telenovela, a book about the fight against authoritarianism and all the associated nonsense:

Just the latest way in which technology is enabling people who don’t actually like reading to diminish the cultural relevance of those who do.
Abridging has always been in vogue. Now, apps like Blinkist take entire books and crunch them down to a series of what are called Blinks—which amount to around 2,000 words. “Is that what books are coming to, a handy social lubricant?” Anthony Lane asks.
Can You Read a Book in a Quarter of an Hour?
Phone apps now offer to boil down entire books into micro-synopses. What they leave out is revealing.
