I revisited Yooka and friends with Yooka-Replaylee, and it's definitely an improvement, but also still quite an antiquated, flawed game. For context, I would have scored the original a 4/10.

I cannot overstate how good of an editor Dan is, and how fierce of a protector he has been for IGN's editorial integrity.
That impact will last beyond him, but I am going to miss him a lot all the same.

So, a bit of an announcement: I'm retiring. My last day at IGN will be Oct 1; after that I'll be a full-time dad for a bit while my kids are of an age where they'll think spending time with me is cool rather than lame. It's been a huge honor and privilege to run reviews here for the past 12.5 years.

His reviews style guide became my holy text when I started writing for IGN. I’ll miss him covering my drafts in red ink and making me a better, more persuasive writer.

Borderlands 4 gives the series the massive kick in the pants it has needed, with a fantastic open world and greatly improved combat, even bugs and invisible walls can sometimes throw off that groove.
