Fearful that the Nazi forces in Prague would confiscate her lifetime's worth of artwork, Gertrud Kauders decided to hide 700 paintings and sketches. Nearly 80 years later, the artworks were rediscovered by a demolition team tearing down an old building.

Archaeologist Linda Åsheim (NEKU) was working alone at the excavation site in the medieval town in the centre of Tønsberg, Eastern Norway, when she discovered a medieval gold ring with a blue oval gem set in the middle.

This lovely Roman-era enamelled fibula was found by members of the Grudziądz Fortress Association during a routine survey near Grudziądz in Poland.

Some of the large Roman shoes, dug up at the Magna Roman Fort in Northumberland in 2025, will be exhibited at the Roman Army Museum in Brampton, Cumbria, from 7 February.
Eight of the shoes were at least 30cm long, the equivalent of a UK size 13 to 14.

Op het Nectarineplein bij Parnassia in Den Haag herdachten wij vanmiddag de meer dan 200 Joodse patiënten en Joodse onderduikers die in de oorlog in de Ramaerkliniek en de kliniek Bloemendaal verbleven, en op 31 december 1942 gedeporteerd werden en in de vernietigingskampen zijn vermoord.

The practice coincided with the introduction of Christianity to the region known as Nubia
