I’m not built for that mountain driving. The trip from Milwaukee to DC to visit my brother is beautiful once you get to eastern Ohio, but those runaway truck lanes freak me out.

I drive through the unincorporated community of Husher when visiting a friend of mine. I always turn off the radio and make sure everyone in the car is very quiet while passing through.

I was the weird kid who would plunk down fifty cents for the monthly Watermill Classics special when the Troll book order was sent home. That beautiful box would arrive, other kids would get their Garfield books and Beetlejuice stickers, and there I am with a copy of Bob, Son of Battle.

Well, now I’m off to write my economics doctoral thesis on the dovetail effects of Dover Thrift Editions and Costco’s footlong hot dog on emerging markets in sub-Saharan Africa and the warning signs regarding the potential collapse of certain index funds.

During the Badger game the other night a Minnesota player shot a free throw that barely moved and the announcers referenced Tim Wakefield and Hoyt Wilhelm, but no Knucksie. I was upset.

My claim to hoops fame is hitting a half-court 3-pointer at the buzzer for my 8th grade team. It turned a 48-3 victory into a 51-3 victory. It was the only three I ever attempted.

Cool thing I saw the other day. My cousin is still 9th on Wisconsin’s all-time assists leaderboard. Once upon a time he was second. Hopefully he’ll stay in the top ten for a while, especially with guys changing teams so often nowadays. #GoBadgers
