🇨🇺🇺🇸 “There is no dialogue at any level”: Cuba’s deputy foreign minister, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, confirmed Drop Site News’ reporting in an interview with the Mexican newspaper La Jornada that no high-level contacts with the United States are underway. “There is no high-level dialogue with the government of the United States. One cannot even say there is dialogue at a mid-level,” he said. “We have exchanged messages… but there is no momentum. There is no dialogue taking place at this time between the two countries.” His remarks directly contradict President Trump’s repeated claims that negotiations are in progress. Drop Site previously reported that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been telling the president talks are happening when none exist. Meanwhile, the head of the U.S. diplomatic mission in Cuba, Mike Hammer, repeated those claims Tuesday in an interview with Telemundo, saying Washington is speaking with “some very high-ranking people” inside the Cuban government, suggesting others inside the government “may not be aware.” Pressed on who, he replied: “Yes, there is a Delcy Rodríguez.” Hammer refused to confirm any names.
