Does satire have an inherent shelf life?

Like satire uses irony and exaggeration to criticize something, right? After the subject of criticism exits the focus of the public eye, does the satirical work just start being enjoyed unironically?

So my entire old team just got Surprise Fired. My team, my boss, his boss, *his* boss....

I switched teams like 3 months ago and Am Safe... Cool... I....guess. I mean, yes cool.... But still....

I realize my job feels exceptionally more charming if I stop thinking of myself as "an embedded firmware engineer of NPU microprocessors" and instead think of myself as "a watchmaker"

I think we may be buying a house and I hate every moment of this process

I like this idea, but "transcendence" seems a bit vague. Worthwhile exercise to define one's own delights though, I imagine.

I feel like there is a part of me that would make a good priest, were I a faithful person.

The newest character in our house is "Slam Body Jack". She's like Regular Jack, but she will surprise Body Slam you.

Me, at the tree lighting event by the library, admiring the giant snow flake ornamentation.

Jack: "Coniferous Tree have a white asterisks on it!"

Me: "you're exactly right, dear"

Omg I'm turning her into a weirdo already 😭

I miss playing D&D so much. I haven't done any roleplaying in years and I would do some rash things to be a part of a persistent campaign again.

It was cute at first but my daughter genuinely does seem to just love fire...

Curious phenomenon: this book I'm reading is titled a "history of clothing" and it's just.... Not that? The last 10% of the book I've gone through is all about union busting and toxic chemical use.

This isn't a history of *clothing*, it's a history of industrial textile production....

Elation at my daughter figuring out how to blow her nose immediately gives way to distress that her new favorite toy appears to be "tissues covered in mucus"

"in 1913 the average women's dresses took 19 yards of fabric. By 1928 the average dress took less than 7. Manufacturers understood that encouraging styles that took less fabric meant goods that were less expensive to produce"

Unsurprising but still interesting
