no but seriously i was talking about this with oomf yesterday & even if it was true—& to be frank, i don’t think it’s a universal truth—i’m at a point in my life where i would rather be mostly stable/have my edges sanded down even if it means i don’t produce as many creative works that i’m proud of
i dislike the pervasive idea that you can only create meaningful art (whatever the definition of that is to you) or be truly creative if you’re suffering in some way and/or unmedicated; it’s an untrue myth* and i think it can be and often is dangerous
