I understand why it came about but theres no valid reason why it didn’t get abolished in the late 90’s/early 2000’s and now because the fee itself has become politically contentious (mostly through crackpots) it’s never going away.

Also (and controversially) it’s first three seasons are incredibly good and as a whole it’s very easy to watch. I do admit there are very valid criticisms as a whole etc.

Basic converse did get ruined for me when it pivoted straight to being the “cool dad shoe” right after getting popular again about 10 years ago.

I tend not to be in the anti-drug camp but I do wonder how much of the UK’s rise in male suicide can be blamed on increased casual cocaine usage.

I know I’m barely thirty (and mostly worked in shitholes) but anywhere I’ve worked people who are 60 plus constantly mention how many years they have left until retirement at least once a week. Either way there’s wilful ignorance there, one way or the other.

Reform are genuinely going to throw away their lead by having too many Tories, I know they need more candidates that aren’t “racist landlord with petty grievances against the council” but when will they realise that their base doesn’t like the Tories (apart from one or two) anymore.

The Mandalorian going from a very fun pseudo western set in space to a flashy but forgettable Peter Kay routine about minor Star Wars characters should have made it obvious why appealing to those aspects is a bad idea.

It might be good that Burnham was blocked from becoming Labour leader as it’s spared us an election campaign featuring the ghost of Tony Wilson and repeated references to the Hacienda.
