They haven’t been New York’s Finest since 2002 when Mayor Bloomberg and Commissioner Kelly expanded “stop and frisk”. Based on racial profiling, they focused on Blacks and Hispanics. By the time Mayor de Blasio discontinued the practice in 2014, the harm was done. NYPD cops were sorry to see it go.
