AI and nuclear are hand in glove. Servers required for AI require more power than the grid can supply so Tech says that nuclear is urgently required.

The poster is right in every respect, I'll be there Wednesday 11th, and it is an open mike, except that I haven't shaved or cut my hair this year so the photo isn't what one might call accurate.

I found some leaves on the side of old coal spoil here, Blaengarw, middle of January. Been back looking for them again, but I think the sheep must have eaten them.

Wondering why Keir Starmer’s Government did so little to address the foreign tech and media oligarchs besetting us? Mandelson might provide an answer. And his removal an occasion for a fresh start

Evidence? The pollution, contamination if you will, of the Cumbrian coastline by the Windscale explosion and from the leaks at Sellafield is well documented. As is the dumping by Hinkley of contaminated mud in the Bristol Channel just off Cardiff. Google that.
January 30, 2026 at 7:32 AM
No surprise there. Man bites dog would be new.
January 29, 2026 at 3:47 PM
No need to Google. I once lived clode to Hinkley, then along the coast from Sellafield. When it was called Windscale that nuclear power station had a massive leak. Mud all along the coast was, and remains, polluted. Nuclear is not safe.
January 29, 2026 at 3:45 PM
I take it you work for a nuclear power company. That last statement is patently untrue. Nuclear power is not the safest form of power. The explosion at Chernobyl affected farms in Wales. Fukishima led to radiation of the Pacific ocean... I could go on, but see littel point.
January 29, 2026 at 11:14 AM
When discussing nuclear power one has to think centuries ahead. That's how dangerous nuclear waste is. Safe storage batteries for renewable sources are already growing in capacity and reliability. Wind, solar and tidal centuries from now will still be safe
January 29, 2026 at 7:34 AM
Theoretically yes the quantities are comparitively small, so far. And reactors might be built that can recycle the fuel. But what about the contaminated and radioactive buildings... Nuclear is such an unnecessary risk. Without AI on demand renewables will provide more than enough electricity.
January 28, 2026 at 4:01 PM
Safely stored nuclear waste is the key. Unfortunately no country has yet found a way to safely store nuclear waste. France and Finland have come close. UK hasn't even got a plan.

But it is likely to be for the next 100,000 years.
