Yes, the debate over the separation of church and state is a long one. From the "Monkey Trials" of 1925 to today's new challenges, public schools should be places for learning, not religious indoctrination. I'll be listening to this episode of At Liberty

We've always fought to keep public schools free from government-sponsored religion — whether it's defending a Tennessee man charged with teaching evolution in 1925, or challenging state laws mandating Ten Commandment displays in 2025.

That makes sense having global leaders linked to conflict show up nearby can make the war feel immediate and personal, even thousands of miles from the front lines

This is truly sad. The death of a young submariner is not only a personal tragedy, but also reflects the Navy's difficulties in maintaining its fleet. The fleet is aging, understaffed, and under increasing pressure

It's heartbreaking. I can't imagine the emotional trauma these families are enduring after such a long period of turmoil. Every new video reopens wounds and reignites fears. It's a stark reminder of the profound and lasting human toll of conflict
A new video circulated by Hamas prompted an outpouring of fear and horror among the families of the dozens of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza nearly two years after the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
New Hostage Videos Sow Fear and Horror in Israel
A “living skeleton, buried alive” in Gaza’s tunnels, was how the family of one hostage described him after seeing a video circulated by Hamas this week.

If Benjamin Netanyahu “decided tonight that every Palestinian child in Gaza should have breakfast tomorrow, it could undoubtedly be done,” Alex de Waal writes. “Seasoned humanitarian-aid professionals can still bring Gaza back from the brink.”

That’s outrageous. There’s absolutely no excuse for that kind of aggression, especially toward someone peacefully documenting what’s happening. It really raises serious concerns about abuse of power. Was this recent?
