Words on the Bears, sometimes Cubs and Sox for WGN-TV News | Producer/Host - The Sports Office on WGN+ | PFWA Member | GVSU/Medill Alum |
Something I was curious of…

The Hammond, Indiana location for a potential Bears stadium is actually closer to where Soldier Field currently sits than the Arlington Park Racecourse property in the northwest suburbs is.

At an Indiana General Assembly meeting this morning, the amendment filed to update Indiana’s SB27 passed unanimously, 24-0.

The amendment lays the groundwork for the Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority and how to establish a Northwest Indiana Stadium Board.

The Chicago Bears have announced the promotion of Jeff King to assistant general manager to replace Ian Cunningham, who departed to take the GM job in Atlanta earlier this offseason.

At first, I thought I'd write 1500-ish words on 10 players.

Well. I'm too much of a sicko for that.

So, here are 4200 words on 14 players the Chicago Bears could take a look at in free agency when negotiations fully open on March 11, for @wgntv.com: tinyurl.com/y6vxhdkp

With success comes higher expectations for the Bears.

But as it turns out, it also means higher prices for season ticket holders.

More on the team's steepest price hike on season tickets in at least the last three years, for @wgntv.com:

More on the Eric Studesville hire as RBs coach:

A 29-year NFL coaching veteran, Studesville spent the last eight seasons with the Miami Dolphins (2018-25) as their Associate Head Coach / RBs Coach.

More background on Press Taylor:

He joined the Bears after spending three seasons as OC of the Jacksonville Jaguars (2022-24) and prior to one season with the Indianapolis Colts (2021), Taylor spent eight seasons in a variety of roles with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The #Bears have officially announced Press Taylor’s promotion to offensive coordinator, on top of 3 other coaching staff hires — Eric Studesville as RB’s coach, Will Lawing as an offensive analyst and Isaiah Ford as an offensive quality control coach.

Personally, I don't think 75-82 wins for the #WhiteSox is too overly optimistic, but what do I know?

Three days after being eliminated from the NFL playoffs, Ben Johnson was already referring to 2025 as "last season."

As the Bears prepare for 2026, major salary cap decisions are near.

Here's how they can create nearly $50 million (or more) in cap space this offseason: tinyurl.com/yc3pjs2h

Fedde pitched at a near all-star caliber level in his first go-around with the Sox before being traded at the deadline two years ago.

Now, he’s back on the South Side and competing for a rotation spot on a team that could be a lot more plucky than the one he last played on.
SP Erick Fedde is returning to the South Side on a 1-year deal w/the White Sox, first reported by the NY Post’s Joel Sherman.

Lake Forest High School and Notre Dame alum Rylie Mills with the Super Bowl sack of Drake Maye.

Great bull rush by Mills to get home.

Kenneth Walker's got some insane contact balance, man.

Oof, if Sam Darnold puts that ball on Shaheed in stride, that's a huge gain.

What matters in this game:

🏈 Who controls the explosive plays/who creates them
🏈 Which of the weak spots in pass pro (Campbell/Bradford) get exploited
🏈 How the Pats hold up vs. SEA multi-TE sets
🏈 Whether Pats can run on early downs vs. SEA nickel D/light boxes

One thing about Press Taylor, he does have an eye for big-time plays here and there.

After the Bears' 31-3 victory over the Browns, Ben Johnson gave credit to Taylor for ID'ing a play that ended in a 40-yard completion from Caleb Williams to Luther Burden III.

The play:

I'll be interested to see how Press Taylor handles the responsibilities Declan Doyle was tasked with under Ben Johnson.

Sure, Johnson is still calling plays, so Taylor won't have the chance to implode the Bears' offense like he did with the Jaguars, but he'll still be tasked with ...
February 8, 2026 at 10:00 PM
With Declan Doyle’s departure to call plays for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, the Bears have chosen to promote his replacement internally, rather than bring in an outside candidate to be Ben Johnson’s top lieutenant on offense.

Congrats to Matthew Stafford, man. Consummate pro who toiled for 12 years in Detroit under defunct regime after defunct regime and never once complained.

Watching him undergo a career renaissance in LA has been one of my favorite NFL storylines of the last half-decade.

Joe Thuney has been everything the #Bears could hope for and more in an interior offensive lineman.

Tonight, the NFL recognized his performance in 2025 by naming him the first-ever "Protector of the Year."
