Kegels aren't the answer to every pelvic floor problem. Sometimes your pelvic floor is too tight, not too weak. Sometimes it's coordination, not strength. This is why assessment matters.

Pain shooting down your leg? Before assuming sciatica, ask: Does sitting hurt? Any bladder/bowel changes? Pelvic pressure? Sometimes it's pelvic floor dysfunction. Tell your provider ALL symptoms.

Pelvic floor prep before birth should be as standard as prenatal vitamins and ultrasounds. Not a luxury. Not 'if problems come up.' Standard care.

Rush to unlock your door because you're about to leak? That's latchkey incontinence—your brain associates 'home' with 'bathroom.' Good news: pelvic PT retrains this pattern.
January 14, 2026 at 5:05 PM
If your provider says 'it's normal,' ask: 'Is it common or is it treatable?' Common doesn't mean you have to live with it. Most pelvic floor symptoms are both common AND treatable.
January 12, 2026 at 5:03 PM
What to say to your doctor: 'I'm experiencing [symptom]. Can you refer me to a pelvic floor PT?' You don't need to prove it's bad enough or try everything else first. PT is first-line treatment.

Pain during sex isn't something to 'get used to.' It's not about relaxing more. It's a treatable condition that responds to pelvic floor PT. You deserve pain-free intimacy.

Your pelvic floor connects to your hips, back, and core. Hip pain? Back pain? Your pelvic floor might be involved. Your body is connected—your treatment should be too.

As this year ends: you didn't imagine your symptoms. You're not overreacting. You don't need to earn treatment. Pelvic PT is healthcare, not self-care. You deserve access in 2026.

Leaking when you laugh?
Pain with sex?
Feeling “off” after birth... even years later?
These are pelvic floor issues. And they’re treatable.

Years of pelvic pain lead to chronic muscle guarding: tension that worsens symptoms like painful sex, urination, and bowel movements.

Pelvic floor PT doesn’t cure endo, but it does help reduce pain, calm the nervous system, and improve daily function.

It should be part of the standard of care.

We normalize rehab for ACL tears yet we ignore it for childbirth. That’s not medicine, that’s a double standard.

Every major surgery gets rehab… except C-sections. Every joint injury gets rehab… except the pelvic floor. Women’s health care shouldn’t be an exception.

Searches for pelvic floor have grown by 488% in the last decade. Proof that people are asking more questions, seeking better answers, and refusing to settle for “just live with it.” The awareness is rising. #pelvicfloor

We’re proud to see our own PT Kimberlee Sullivan featured in this article, helping bring this crucial conversation into the mainstream. Pelvic health affects everyone, but stigma has kept too many people — including men — from getting care. That’s changing.
Chronic pain, sexual dysfunction and incontinence can all stem from problems with your pelvic floor — and many men don’t even know they have one.

Running with pelvic floor symptoms isn’t your fault.
The impact, breath pressure, urgency, leaks: all of it is connected.
PT isn’t just about rehab. It’s about getting your confidence and rhythm back.

You don’t have to “just deal with it” if running makes you feel like you’ve gotta pee every 5 minutes.
Pelvic floor physical therapy can help your muscles coordinate with your movement, so you can run without the mid-stride bathroom break.
