You absolutely should question if this 4-hour interrogation of an internationally renowned legal expert on his *95TH BIRTHDAY* was politically motivated and an abuse of power

If CBSA refuses to explain itself, it is betraying the public's trust and deserves no benefit of the doubt

The smart being stupid.
"Amazon Web Service's outage caused people's "smart beds" to overheat and get stuck in an upright position."

That is a sentence that belongs in a really badly written B-grade public-access TV type of sci-fi show.

The fact it is true is why I am happy none of my appliances (or beds) are smart.

White Billionaire donors just being replaced by White Billionaire philanthropists. Everyone wants to “low income countries to “prosper” but for their own gains. Our countries are not your testing grounds. #philanthropy
As old growth models falter, the Gates Foundation and, more recently, Open Philanthropy are testing new ways to help low- and middle-income countries prosper. They’re able to take risks, test ideas, and inform policy reforms that multilateral banks and bilateral donors often can’t.
As aid shrinks, top philanthropies test new ways to spur economic growth

It's not a peace deal. It's a real estate transaction.

I would be more than happy for my taxes to be used for the welfare of these Beluga whales, than see them being used as a weapon of war or economic “growth”. This is on us.

2023 tweet; still valid.

Global North academics repeat after me:
Since I did not raise objections to the genocide, I shall not teach courses on decolonisation, decoloniality, post-genocide literatures from Palestine or other cognate ‘radical’ courses that advance my career & help me procure grants.

Brilliant review of Alana Lentin’s 2025 book.
“The new racial regime is something quite different, Lentin argues. It is the weaponisation of race by white supremacy in contemporary times, by blurring the line between racism and anti-racism”
By @themrise.bsky.social
NEW✨ The New Racial Regime by Alana Lentin @plutopress.bsky.social explores how race is weaponised to uphold white supremacy, from the Critical Race Theory backlash and the "war on woke" to how Israel and the West frames the brutal oppression of Palestinians.

I’m kind of speechless with this one. I can’t imagine the kind of person who continues to make the argument that it doesn’t count as real starvation if the kids were already sick.
