31 Spooky Movies for October!

30. Creep

A surprising, tense, and unnerving found footage film. Mark Duplass gives a remarkable performance. Go in blind and brace yourselves.

29. Thir13en Ghosts

The practical effects and Matthew Lillard shine in this haunted house film on steroids. Greg Nicotero of The Walking Dead fame masterfully crafted each of the titular ghosts, and knocked it out of the park.

On this day in 1959, Martin Sloan took a mile-and-a-half walk back to his hometown and learned there's only one summer per customer in "Walking Distance". A phenomenal episode about slowing down and appreciating life accompanied by a legendary score by Bernard Hermann. #TheTwilightZone

28. Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor

This film succeeds by bringing the Hell House franchise back to its roots. Simple, but still expands the lore. Most important of all: it has effective scares.

27. Skinamarink

Moody, atmospheric, and out of focus! The lingering, unsettling vibe is the only thing going for this experimental horror flick. Almost no narrative, audible dialogue, or scares. This one didn't work for us.

A low-stakes fun shark movie which features one of the most memorable kills by a shark in cinematic history. Is it phenomenal? No. Does that matter? Also no.

Cult classic for a damn good reason. An iconic performance from Tim Curry headlines this musical/horror/comedy/masterpiece. Great at home, better live.

24. Pumpkinhead

This unique creature feature was the directorial debut of Academy-Award-winning effects artist Stan Winston. Lance Henriksen shines as a scorned father, and the titular Pumpkinhead is an...unsettling movie monster.

22. In A Violent Nature

A modern slasher with clear influences from the Friday the 13th franchise. The film has a vision, but there's not enough here to fill out its runtime. It would have been better served as a short film.

On this day in 1959, the world first saw Ida Lupino's silver screen journey in "The Sixteen-Millimeter Shrine." While not a universally beloved episode, the fantastic cinematography and memorable performance from Lupino make this a worthy addition to The Twilight Zone canon. #ZoneSky #Zoners
