Profoundly boring. I mostly just wanted a place to share my musings about basketball (and occasionally other things).

I. You. They. We. Us.

Because I have the memory of a goldfish with end-stage dementia, I keep a running list of game notes (primarily just observations that occurred to me while watching the games) and a friend suggested that I might find some community on #NBASky, so I created an account and here we are.

Starting Stewart and Duren together is just mean. Why is it that whenever the Pistons are good—no matter the era, it involves a lineup with bruisers in it?

Movie OTD: Police Story (1985) dir. by Jackie Chan

OSR: Jackie Chan is an international treasure. I’ve seen the mall stunt 100 times and never knew that it came from Police Story. The stunt work is amazing and he’s hamming it up as only he can without feeling annoying…

Movie OTD: Pygmalion (1938) dir. by Anthony Asquith, Leslie Howard

OSR: I’ve never seen the stage adaptation of this play, so I was immediately and pleasantly surprised by how the film adaptation seems to maintain a very stage like feel to it (in a good way). Wendy Higgins…

@raptorqueenspod.bsky.social Any thoughts on the Trae Young situation in Atlanta? Do y’all think that he might be a fit in Toronto?

His abysmal defense would obviously be anegative, but I think that having a guy with his passing and scoring punch has a lot of potential next to Ingram and Barnes.

Movie OTD: Black Girl (1966) dir. by Ousmane Sembène

OSR: As a portrait of the human experience, this is amazing work. More than anything else, it’s an intriguing timestamp of an issue that still goes on to this day around the world. I found myself wondering as I watched…

Movie OTD: Volcano (1997)

OSR: I have 100% seen this movie before at some point (presumably in the 90s). I have a distinct memory of John Carroll Lynch’s demise in the subway tunnel. My big takeaways from this movie, aside from how beautiful Anne Heche was, are that…

Movie OTD: This is Spinal Tap (1984)

OSR: This has been a big gap in my movie resume, but it very much still holds up. Rather surprisingly, some of the music is actually pretty good despite how ridiculous it is. Also, Artie Fufkin is an all-time great character name. | 4/5

Day two and I’m already switching something up here. The one sentence review is unreasonably restrictive. I think I’m going to abandon that and just give a short review of each film and album.

Has any team had a more disastrous couple of weeks recently? The only comparison that I can think of is in the 2019 finals when both Durant and Klay went down. Obviously, those were more serious injuries, but this is a crucial stretch with potentially 17 games without a big man this month.
Injury Update: Jonas Valančiūnas suffered a Right Calf Strain during last night's game at the Toronto Raptors. Jonas will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

One of my resolutions for 2026 is to watch a movie and listen to an album that I’ve never seen/heard (respectively) before and give a one sentence review.

#Cavs vs #Spurs

My first thought whenever there’s a great rim protector like Wemby, Gobert, Allen, etc. is that the entire goal of the first quarter should be to get them double figures blocks. Just spam drives… Defending every single possession at the rim, they are bound to pick up three fouls.

Jokić and Gobert are polar opposites as it pertains to ‘touch’. What makes Rudy an A+ defender also makes him D- on O. It’s like he has two ping-pong paddles for mitts while Jokić has buttery soft hands. Every Jokić shot feels wonky then softly caresses itself into the basket.

Not that it matters to anyone in the grand scheme of things, but both the team that no one can beat AND the team that keeps beating the team that no one can beat have stars that were mentored by Christopher Ignatius Paul VII, Esq.

This shot making an execution in this first quarter is outrageous. Both teams are generating good shots, but both teams are also playing good defense.

“White” James Harden against “James Harden” James Harden is always a fun matchup.

Congratulations to the Knicks. That was a great win and I would dare say that this is the best NBA cup so far. They’ve gotten better every year.
December 17, 2025 at 4:13 AM
The NBA has gotten incredibly lucky that these NBA Cup games have been awesome AND there have been no major injuries in any of these championship games.
All of the “this tournament thing doesn’t matter” people would definitely come out of the woodwork complaining if and when that ever happened.

Mitchell Robinson is the O.J. Mayo of Steven Adamses.

He is absolutely beasting on the offensive boards tonight.
December 17, 2025 at 3:57 AM
Towns is playing fantastically in this third quarter, but it doesn’t bode well for the Knicks that the Spurs keep generating such great shots.
December 17, 2025 at 3:29 AM
I love how Danny Green never evolved past the mid-aughts urge to wear any and all hats at a jaunty angle.
December 17, 2025 at 2:55 AM
I predict that KAT is going to foul out of this game. He can’t help but pick up bone-headed fouls, and Wemby is a handful and a half.

Harrison Barnes: Professional Basketball Player.
December 17, 2025 at 2:15 AM
That Scottie, Barnes and OG Anunoby were on the same team at one point with their absurd builds is funny to think about. Those two have to have the most absurd shoulder size to arm length ratios in the league.
December 17, 2025 at 2:15 AM
I think that impresses me the most about both Jokić and Sengun is their touch. It is a regular part of both of their arsenals to shoot a push shot in front of the rim that hits the front of the room and then softly bounces over.
