Nola looks decent the first time through, giving up only 2 runs (one on a solo shot). The Phillies keep it close with a solo shot of their own (finally!) from one of bats 1-3. Nola immediately gives up a two-run bomb and we finally see Suarez and Banks who no-hit the dodgers but it doesn't matter.

Baseball is amazing because like half the elite players are Cristopher Sanchezes who just come out of nowhere to put things together beyond what anyone thinks. We still are extremely shit at predicting them happening.

I can't recall if it was brought up during the "what if" show but one that needles at me a lot: what if we had won the lottery and drafted Kane instead of JVR?
Obviously the odds of someone jumping us were higher, but holy butterfly effect.

It remains hilarious that he continues to describe a MOCA as a test of smarts when you only ever have to take it if you're getting screened for dementia, *due to people being worried about it*. We don't just have everyone take MOCAs/MMSEs and we certainly don't use them as a measure of intelligence.

Potential hot take? All Star games/festivities are meant to be fun and for kids, even in baseball. Appearances should not matter for things like HOF voting for a variety of reasons. They're a neat quirk for kids who rearrange baseball cards to dream about Pedro Martinez pitching to Posey.
