Looking at life through the lens for perspective. Common sense is not so common.
With the orange $hitshow of US politics & the self-serving #MSM coverage, the loudest sideshow is the opportunistic Left cannabilzing by attacking the Center as in the #NYC mayoral race (Gov race next). It's a clown show of doing the Right's dirty work. They never learn that Tyranny is #Tyranny.

Action, no matter how small, is better than the grandest of plans that never commence. The Resistance that has gained traction will build even more momentum with formal blueprints. This piece is significant. The time continues to be now. #resistance #democracy

Arresting someone exercising 1stA rights, whether you agree or disagree with the message, is meant for those watching to choose between disdain for the message/messenger and the precious rule of law. If we allow the bait & switch to happen, we are ALL screwed. Don't embrace victimhood. #fascism

Elections were once the US's coveted call for fairness & reform; that was before Putin and Musk became VIPs in the WH. By calling for new elections in Ukraine after disparaging Zelensky, Trump makes clear that elections will be a tool for oppression aided by both the Influencer & Hacker in Charge.

With misinformation comes manipulation. The repetition of words & phrases meant to divide some groups & alienate others, serve to transform perception & compel action. The pettiness & rhetoric aimed at civil servants, immigrants & LGBTQ+ humans are dark, overt & disgusting. bsky.app/profile/thel...
One can not understate the importance of language in facilitating culture. Culture can not exist without it. The Sapir-Whorf hypothesis holds that language not only describes what it is that we are thinking and feeling, but also shapes it...molds it...cultivates it. #socialscience #cults

Truer than it was when first posted. The current rendition of Global warfare is not the macro battles of the past with micro results, but rather a continuous and exhaustive series of micro battles with macro results. @youranoncentral.bsky.social

Federalism is critical to the preservation of liberty & democracy. Current tone & temperature in DC is one of #Centralism. This brief pinpoints the critical importance of keeping hands off the fundamental fabric of our governance, as understood by Congress.

After a break from posting, & while taking in the events & headlines of January thus far, one can conclude that we are officially living in that alternate reality many of us feared where the public at large are becoming their own version of Truman Burbank...except they are embracing the script...

#Patrimonialism promotes a sole leader to power who offers favors to loyalists to create stability. Attractive to societies with weakened institutions or where people seek direct protection, it sacrifices accountability & democratic norms, trading personal loyalty for broader democratic values.

#WagtheDog was a Christmas Day release in 1997. While this post-2020 retrospective from The Harvard Crimson juxtaposing the movie with American politics both past & present, still holds true, it would need to be revised to include an even greater threat to American #democracy & #sovereignty.

Groupthink-a psychological & sociological phenomenon where members of a group conform to majority opinion to maintain harmony rather than stating their own opinions. Groupthink is differentiated from simple group consensus by its often illogical or poorly thought through conclusions. -Study.com

Aggressively pushing a collective identity with familiar scapegoats under the guise of social conformity framed with sophiscated and modern propaganda tools is the battle currently underway.

But all is not familiar. New tech & social norms have shifted the lines of play & rules of engagement. Basic questions during WW1 & WW2 were IF & WHEN the US would officially enter the war, not WHICH side it would be on & WHAT it would defend. The questions were moot bc the answers were no-brainers!

The world is in the throws of modern global warfare on traditional battlefields of earth & sky, and on increasingly sophisticated digital & psychological fronts. The world has been here before where idealogies & alliances intersect, and when collective action & self-preservation is needed.

One can liken The Sociological Imagination to that scene in "The Matrix" when Neo revives & sees code all around directing life. The computer code is similar to social forces. Once Neo saw, he couldn't unsee. #thesociologicalomagination Check out this briefer meridianuniversity.edu/content/expl...
