weird end to a Friday night.
I'm now a co-owner of a company that owns struggling music venues in the UK with ~1,000 other people

Now I don't run my own company, I cannot afford Grammary. It has been an incredible guiding hand for me, someone who is not great at writing

ANYTHING that uses electricity is NOT fucking better for the environment. Continuing to profess it is ‘better’ than other energy sources is hidi the absolute fuckery of mining required for the resources that is required

When I worked in agencies the worst part was the sales team. Sell them whatever they want and sell you up the river to deliver it

In a future too far away to care, #Motogp might be interesting and that will mean commentary by @gavinemmett.bsky.social and hodgy talking about the race instead of needing to pad 45mins with trivia. Must watch WSBK every weekend. 2027 is so far away and adding harleys and sidecars won't fix it

Anna Best, IT consultant, Oxford
The Guardian

Nobody has said the data will be held in one place. Nobody who is working in IT would recommend data being in ONE place. I don't know what Anna does in IT, but it certainly isn't information architecture

Chill out. How many times has the cars been comms tested? First thing I ever had published in a newspaper was an opinion piece on why nectar was a bad idea and that was... Oh fuck... A long time ago

A new study, based on a survey of 1,150 workers suggests that the injection of AI tools into the workplace has not resulted in a magic productivity boom and instead increased the amount of time that workers say they spend fixing low-quality AI-generated “work.”

AI ‘Workslop’ Is Killing Productivity and Making Workers Miserable
AI slop is taking over workplaces. Workers said that they thought of their colleagues who filed low-quality AI work as "less creative, capable, and reliable than they did before receiving the output."

COME TO OUR CONFERENCE!

Lots of people work on medicines data: researchers; but also "medicines optimisation" teams, using data to directly improve NHS care; and teams who build data tools. These clans rarely meet... Until now! Join us, Dec 10th, in Oxford.

Today we've been talking about solving needs instead of scratching egos.
Here's a billion dollar itch that has been scratched for 10 years despite everyone saying - this.is.shit.

I was hoping to be in Edinburgh at #SDinGov and supporting @cjforms.bsky.social with her excellent session this afternoon 'Garbage in, garbage out? Measuring error rates and data quality to get ready for AI' If you want to be part of it make sure you don't tarry over lunch as it is a capped session

Not at SDinGov again because I cannot afford that on my own. It's such an important ecent I can't help feel is only attainable if you have a business sponsor

I really do hope next year I get to be there all week, and make the most of the entire experience

Hello #GovDesign crowd!

I’m en route to Edinburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and @sdingov.bsky.social, while working on content for our Friday workshop on finally making end-to-end #serviceDesign happen.

Despite the grim weather forecast, the weather in Scotland looks gorgeous. It’s almost a #BlueSky right now!

See you!
