Anddddd…notch the first SNL this season I dropped out of on the wall. Couldn’t even finish the first post-monologue block of sketches.

NEW EPISODE: Barely making it through it's first televised airing in some parts of the country, unseen in others, and more or less cancelled before the whole thing was even over, 1969's Turn-On was never meant to be seen again...until it escaped.

I was on this episode and tried to research the show we were covering and every single new source I found only made me feel like I understood the facts of this show even less! Get on your boogie suit, do your absolute worst disco moves, and enjoy another look at end-stage variety TV.
PATREON EXCLUSIVE: In 1978, Mary Tyler Moore embarked upon her first attempt to do a sketch variety show on prime time CBS, featuring some of the first televised appearances of Micheal Keaton and David Letterman (who are in the cast). It's all very odd!

NEW EPISODE: It's been one hell of a journey but we've finally come to the end of the road with The Richard Pryor Show! It's clear all involved are ready for it to be over by this point but it's still not without it's moments of fascination.

This is gonna be the craziest way to learn JAJ isn’t coming back for the next season

This is just wrong. A complete fucking mess of a decision. Emil had a killer first season! Had some good update appearances, anchored sketches adeptly, seemed poised to fill the spaces Mikey occupied once he left. Just an awful, awful choice here.

Celeste Yim and Rosebud Baker aren’t coming back. They’re screen testing Longfellow and KC Shornima for Weekend Update. I think it’s finally happening, folks. I think they’re finally gonna overhaul the show.
There’s been no official word on whether Colin Jost and Michael Che will be back at the "Weekend Update" anchor desk for SNL’s 51st season, but LateNighter can exclusively report that the show has screen tested at least one new anchor combination.

Going to be fascinating to see what SNL will do with their cold opens in a post-Gavin Newsom and (current) South Park world. They’ve needed to step their game up for *years* now and I wonder if this is what will finally galvanize them to actually do so.

NEW EPISODE: Running from 92-93, The Edge was insane assemblage of talent: Julie Brown, Jennifer Aniston, Wayne Knight, Tom Kenny, and David Mirkin just to name a few. But why is it so lost to time? We dissect it's best-of episode to find out!

The New Show is one of the most interesting, inscrutable failures in TV history and it was lovely to talk about it in between oversharing and doing my "Emo Phillips doing a cold read for the role of Bane" impression (I swear it's on topic, sort of).
PATREON EXCLUSIVE: It's the penultimate outing of 1984's The New Show, with Laraine Newman, John Candy & Laurie Anderson!

@eddieapc.bsky.social and @sonofmechamummy.bsky.social are on deck to discuss an episode that seemingly knows the end is *very* near.
