I have my first busking gig coming up and I wonder if I should use my real name, my maiden name, just my first name, or what?
Also, should I set up a vendor, zelle, PayPal, or cashapp digital tips option?

I finally recovered my account. What'd I miss? 😆

We spent the last two months using our garage as a kitchen. I'm happy to say that last week, the finishing touches were completed. Behold my new kitchen in all its glory.

Friends, lend me your ears, I have information to provide!

For #WWWC13 we are starting and participating in a "crow's trinket exchange."

Think about a crow and how they like a shiny--you'll be exchanging your shinies for other shinies from other folks at the event!

When people say norovirus will make you want to die for a day or two, it's not hyperbole.
I spent almost all last night in the ER, unable to stop vomiting without meds, and too dehydrated to function.
Today I'm a lump.

Funding from these grants doesn’t just support scientists. They also pay for staff positions throughout the University through indirect costs. Put simply: study sections either get reinstated or research in the U.S. dies.

Scientists all over the U.S., and especially at universities and research centers, rely on this funding to do the research that benefits all Americans. Universities rely on this funding to operate. If these reviews are stopped, the funding will be stopped, and eventually some Unis will collapse.

NIH Study Sections have been cancelled. These are groups of experts who get paid a pittance, if anything, to review research funding applications from their peers. The result of these reviews is to rank these research grants to decide which proposals get funded.

I spent a weekend hoping I at least would get an interview. Govt. hiring processes have never been this fast before (this was county)
Timeline: I applied Friday. Got the first notice that I had passed the first review on Saturday. The job closed on Monday. Got a rejection email Tuesday.
I have applied for a lot of jobs in the 30+ years of my working life - this week was the first time an employer has notified me they have moved my application past the initial review and onto the dept review.
I truly appreciate the communication even if it's automated.

I just signed up for pixelfed.social. Username is the same.
I'm moving my food and adventure posts over there and stopping use of Instagram except for work stuff.

Normalize not offering advice on things that you weren't consulted about.
I'm working on some comebacks to an in-law who regularly offers advice on weight loss when I have NEVER discussed nor even expressed an interest in the topic, and I certainly wouldn't discuss it with her.

I just realized I can post videos here on this app. This was from the Desert Botanical Gardens a few weeks ago.

Yesterday I helped my husband work through a nasty stomach bug. We did not go to urgent care to confirm it was norovirus... but today he's better and I am now suffering.
In sickness and in health.
I'm missing band practice and I'm mad about it.

Musical Theater troupe idea: doing only obscure weird musicals that aren't done anymore ie. Dance of the Vampires or Chess.
I want to see both.

I think the hardest thing I have ever had to endure as a parent is watching my (adult) child struggle with the same chronic pain that has plagued me nearly my entire adult life.

A pet peeve of mine is private tours that embellish or lie about history. As a historian, trust me—there’s plenty of exciting, real history. I’m thinking of doing a series debunking claims in Arizona. It won’t be sensational, but I'll bring receipts so you’ll be better informed. Interested?

We're going to start our house projects sooner rather than later. I suspect things are just going to get more expensive later, so while we have the funds, we're finishing the kitchen remodel. This isn't a vanity project - we have been without a working oven for 2 years

I stepped outside around 1pm to take the trash out and I heard no cars, no heaters or ac units, just a plane flying overhead and realized that I need some natural quiet. Might go camping sometime soon.
