This is how you call out a Senator on their BS. Be informed, bring the facts, be assertive, and don’t let them bring you down into the name calling game! She’s not radical, she’s a #SuburbanMom!

This report is absolutely shocking.

ICE does not have the authority to detain US citizens during immigration enforcement — full stop. The Trump administration is out of control, violating the rights of American citizens. They must be held accountable.

More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

HB 229, defining biological sex. 620 people testified the bill, 11 for the bill, 609 were against, and the bill passed. Texas republicans constantly talk about doing things "for Texans" even though they repeatedly deny hearing or illustrate an unwillingness to listen to the voice of Texans. #txlege

Surprised no one has mentioned that under this administration’s policies it would be much easier for a man to put on a mask and claim to be ICE to enter women’s facilities and harass and assault women (a thing that actually happens) than it would be for them to pretend to be trans. #txlege

Gov. Abbott is flailing. His latest statement threatening Texas House Democrats is completely unhinged. He claims he is going to declare the seats vacant and cites for authority an AG opinion from 2021 where even Paxton basically says, “yeah, probably not, maybe, really not sure” #txlege

This is exactly the kind of government over reach we warned about in the wake of Dobbs. Tracking Texans beyond our state borders to control our bodies. This will not end with abortion or pregnancy. This is about complete control of our bodies.

This week, @dallasvoice.bsky.social asked if I might share some thoughts on #HB229 “it is a declaration of erasure … We are not abstractions or ideologies. We are people. And no piece of legislation, no matter how cruelly crafted or cleverly disguised, can take away the truth of who we are.” #txlege
Erasure, not protection - Dallas Voice
Last weekend, as I celebrated Mother’s Day with my family and opened the artwork my sons eagerly presented to me — their mom — the Texas House debated HB229, a bill that tries to answer the question “...

Tonight, on the eve of Mother’s Day, the Texas House voted to pass a bill that seeks to erase my identity and define away my status as a mother. #HB229 is a blatant attempt to erase transgender people from existence in our state. #txlege

#HB778 / #SB1257 is not about ensuring coverage for detransition it’s about encouraging insurance companies to stop covering trans healthcare. Responding to concerns about increased liability for insurance providers: “if they want to get out of the business all together they can do that” #txlege

If the goal was really to make sure detransition care was covered
@ginaforaustin.bsky.social Amendment 3 would be a no brainer. That Leach opposes it really brings clarity on what the goal of #HB778 / #SB1257 is. The goal is to penalize those insurance providers that cover trans healthcare. #txlege

On #HB778, Leach loves this phrase “if you take someone to the dance you have to take them home,” but that is not what the bill says. The bill says if you ever took anyone to a dance you have to pay to make sure anyone else that ever attends or attend a dance has a ride home. #txlege

Politicians should be saying "trans people have always used public spaces alongside everyone else, there's never been an issue, this whole thing is made up nonsense, banning them would be a human rights abuse, which is why I'm introducing primary legislation to protect them"
I'm seeing certain politicians appearing to be standing up for trans people, but always stop well short of saying we shouldn't be barred from facilities of our sex/gender.

Making someone like me use the men's is obviously cruel and a human rights abuse, but nobody in politics will say it. Why?
