My 7 year old, mad at his brother while they're getting ready for bed: Don't brush! I want your teeth to fall out!
Sometimes his angry insults are adorable.

The man in front of me is watching a basketball game on his phone at Monster Jam. Sir, there are monster trucks doing flips and catching on fire in front of us!

My kids have been watching a lot of Phineas and Ferb lately and now the main vocal stim that echoes around our house, that may come out at any time is, "Perry the platypus?!" In THAT voice.

I love being a film fest screener. I never know what these wonderful indie filmmakers will bring. Friends high on acid at the park? A magical typewriter? A very gay slasher film? A sad man and his dog? Experimental animation? I love it all!

Timothée Chalamet goes on the craziest side quests so he can play ping pong. My review of Marty Supreme:
Marty Supreme
Marty Supreme is based loosely on the life of tennis star Marty Reisman. Here, we watch Timothée Chalamet run around from one ridiculous side quest to another all with the goal of getting to a table tennis tournament so he can be the all time champion. Along the way he meets colorful characters and uses them in any way he can to get to his goal.

15 minutes in and I'm almost certain Train Dreams will win the Oscar cinematography. Every frame is a work of art. Just wow!

Captain's log, Snow/e-learning day #3, 10:15 am. My will is broken. I toss mini bags of chips at my whining offspring and yell, "How do you function at school without a snack every 27 minutes?!"

Things I said while my husband made me watch 28 Years Later:
-This is Danny Boyle right? That's his color style.
-Is that high pitched noise the movie or my tenitus?
-*SpongeBob voice* Our spines!
-Looks like Target had a sale on babies.

Have kids so one day you can argue with a crying 7 year old about why he wasn't born first and on Mount Rushmore.

These last few days have felt COVID déjà vu. Stuck at home. Helping my kid do school online. Distracting myself with puzzles. The uncertain state of the world.

Snowy movie for the kids this evening: Mulan (it's got that mountain scene)
And I tell my boys that the point of the story is that the toughest and smartest leader is almost always a woman.

My friend and favorite yoga instructor died from cancer today. She wouldn't want me to sulk. I need to move, breathe and laugh to honor her light.

My kid's teacher takes time every day to do calming breathing techniques with his class.
My 3rd grade teacher flipped over my desk because it was messy and I nearly hyperventilated.

Snow day and the kids still do school online. But 11 wants to RickRoll his class. How? He's going to sit there with Rick Astley dancing in the background the whole time, no audio. Fight the power with absurdity, kid.

My family suggested we have a nice snowy movie marathon with Frozen, Ice Age and hot cocoa. Then I said, "How about The Thing, The Shining and whiskey?"

11- Looks like you guys screwed that up.

Today hurts. It's ok to shed tears. But it won't help to despair. That's what they want. Move your body. Use your mind. Be resilient.

Saw H is for Hawk today. Lovely film. But know that G is grief, D is for depression and C is for Claire Foy digging into those emotions so deeply it hurts.

Told my kid about the awesomely bad movie I saw last night: Bats! Inspired from that and The Birds he wants to make his own movie: The Owls! Only he didn't know how to draw owls for the poster. So I put on Disney's The Old Mill. He paused on "the best owl" and he's very proud of his latest work.

Nominated for 16 Academy Awards, Sinners leads the way into Oscar season today. My review of this phenomenal film:
Sinners
Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is a must see experience. Some parts of the film community might even consider it a religious experience. This is a film that sheds a fascinating light on race, religion, community and music, and brings in shocking, bloodsoaked horror. In 1930s Mississippi, twin brothers Elijah and Elias (who go by Smoke and Stack and are both played by Michael B.
