The first time I was on welfare was while I was in the army. We had just had our first child and junior enlisted folks didn't earn very much. Food stamps and WIC saved us.

Green Day was a perfect close to this years Riot Fest, but the highlight of the day is a tie between a killer DHC set or a very polite T-Rex allowing some folks to get by before going feral in the pit! The low was Hanson getting so delayed I couldn't catch their or Gym Class Heroes' sets.

I hate bringing backpacks or carrying things at festivals, so here's my cargo-pocket load out: a hat, sunblock that I'll forget to use, sunglasses, water bottle, a money clip with cash and cards, TWO handkerchiefs, and a small rain jacket for the forecasted storms. Fully prepared and non-stylish!

It's still over a month away, but I'm starting to plan out my must-see and hard choice sets for this year's Riot Fest. Several brutal choices, but I'm so geeked to see James, Rilo Kiley, Dance Hall Crashers, and The Pogues (sadly 2 years late)

I'm behind on updates because I was apparently too busy IN my weekend to post about it, but the short version: Spin Doctors, Gin Blossoms, and Blues Traveler were all awesome (even in the rain, and even if the BT set was too short)....Superman is OUTSTANDING! I will be seeing it again in theaters!
