Trying to stay positive. The heavy frost blocks the view of vehicles passing by, much as the leaves used to do.

The sky is blooming in poppy red tonight

Passed a truck today with the standard large dealer decal in the back window. This one read “Silverado City”. Below that, in much larger letters, another decal read “Jesus Saves”.
Presumably by buying all his trucks at Silverado City?

The stripping of Andrew’s royal titles reinforces the impression that the Royal Family are the Kardashians with less plastic surgery and more ermine.

One last spin over our trails before the snow comes?

My chimney sweep’s topper keeps me from tumbling off my roof. Dirty job and a great view.

Red, white, blue and gold. Go Blue Jays!
October 4, 2025 at 4:23 PM
Once again the Blue Jays waste a bunch of champagne in a premature celebration. At least this year they made playoffs through their own win instead of another team’s loss. I don’t think you’d see a team in any other sport pull a lame stunt like this. Save the bubbly for a big win

“Queen” Rama Lama Dildo and her followers may seem absurd but the people of Richmound SK were terrorized for months. Penalties will be minimal and unenforceable. Worst case is a Jim Jones/Guyana/Kool-aid or a Heaven’s Gate style tragic end to all of this somewhere down the line.

Grandson offered me some zucchini he had fried in various spices in order to impart a modicum of flavour. I declined initially but reconsidered, realizing that anything I could do to reduce the world-wide zucchini glut would be seen as a public service.

A disturbing book. Perhaps most disturbing is the fact that it was written AFTER Biden left the White House. Politicians AND the press share the blame for the coverup. The same thing is happening now as we see Trump deteriorate before our eyes as ‘President’ Stephen Miller holds sway. #Booksky

Got part way to the city and realized I had forgotten my cell phone. Rather than turn back for it I kept going. Being unable to check emails and texts and social media turned out to be remarkably liberating. I think I’ll “forget” my cell phone more often.

Lovely late October day on the deck. Trouble is, it’s only August 14th.

New rule. Irish Cream in my coffee only on Sunday. But nobody said anything about how large a mug I can use.

Dotted Blazingstar (Liatris Punctata) popping up near the brush pile. Roots were used in teas for treating kidney stones, stomach aches and sore throats. Smoke from smouldering roots was inhaled to stop nosebleeds and relieve headaches.

The middle pasture used to produce bales. When it was a ball diamond it produced home runs and great team wind-up parties. Now all it yields is romantic gestures.

How these instruments of torture ever became an iconic symbol of Canadian leisure I will never understand. I’d rather sit on an anthill.

No breeze. Smoke in the air. Reading Ted Barris’s book “Juno”. Father-in-law’s Regiment, Royal Winnipeg Rifles, was there. You know the first 20 minutes or so of “Saving Private Ryan”? Imagine that for 300+ pages. Hard to read through misty eyes. Can I blame that on the smoke? #booksky

Michael Madsen dead at 67. As great as he was as Mr Blonde in ‘Reservoir Dogs’ my favourite was a 1 season tv series called ‘Vengeance Unlimited’ where he played the mysterious Mr Chapel who called in favours from those he’d helped in the past to help new victims of the system.
