I'm a Father | Spouse | Son | Brother | Nephew | Born & Raised Alaskan | Librarian and more. I tend be socially progressive and fiscally conservative, but have become a one-issue voter of late, especially now that I have a teenage daughter.
It’s a sign things are changing when the die-hard trailer park Trump enthusiast is selling his “famous trailer park 2016 and 2024 Trump sign.”

Pete Carran was genuine, with a sense of humor only matched by the size of the State he defined through KINY’s daily news coverage. He was a mentor and I feel lucky our paths crossed, even though he’d hate all this attention.

If SNAP is not funded Saturday, the US will likely see an uptick in shoplifting and misdemeanor theft.

When food stamps go away, parents will do whatever they can to feed their families. Young people will find and take food.

Babies and children will suffer far more than the adults.

I’m barely a Christian, but even I know “In as much as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” Matthew 25:40

It’s anti-Christian and inhumane to take food away from people, especially while bailing out Argentina. Is the new MAGA now Anti-Christ…oh crap.

Remember when Republicans freaked out that Carter installed solar panels on the roof? Or how Nixon resigned because he tried to influence a federal investigation? We are letting POTUS shit on the America.

There’s a reason that protests against Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan are rare. It’s because Dan hides from publicly addressing his constituents in any number vs meeting people who are screened to be agreeable or have money or resources they’re willing to trade.

what i wish more people understood is that the native village of kipnuk and the native village of kwigillingok are federally recognized tribes in the u.s.

we just watched 2 tribes have to evacuate their home and no one knows if they’ll ever get to go back

this is unprecedented in the 21st century

These floods are devastating to rural Alaska.

These folks have lost their homes, vehicles, and boats, as well as subsistence food they had stored for winter.

I’ve donated. Help if you can. This is a reputable place to give.

These poor animals had to be abandoned due to the mandatory evacuation of humans from the village of Kipnuk. Owners had to leave their pets. Bethel Friends of Canines is helping to find, fly out and care for these animals.

If you can join me, any donation helps.

an Indigenous Peoples Day reminder that borders are bullshit and every Indigenous person from across the Americas deserves to be in the US more than every person of European origin

fuck borders, fuck ICE, land back.

I would feel even less comfortable with this if I were Canada. That base is a 20 minute flight from the US-Canada border.
not that i'm a fan of this, but the US has military bases in dozens of countries, and I've always been curious about the reaction folks would have to hosting a foreign military here. guess we get to find out now
Nothing says “America First” like letting another country put an Air Force base in Idaho

Once again Fairbanks has proved that when we work hard together progressives win- we’ve done it three years in a row. This is how you win in a red state- you get on doors, you talk to people, you listen and you meet them where they’re at. So proud of my city
In races for Fairbanks Mayor, Fairbanks City Council, Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly and the Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board, progressives won all but one of the contested races, according to preliminary results.

Progressive candidate Mindy O’Neall’s victory over Fairbanks Mayor David Pruhs headlined a nearly clean sweep of the area’s local elections Tuesday night.

Yesterday Juneau voted to significantly cut the taxes to the local municipality. I can’t understand how the electorate is so easily swayed by rhetoric and lies, at all levels. The next few months and years are going to be difficult as our Assembly has to choose what city services live and die.
Voters favor sales tax exemption, reject seasonal sales tax in early results; Bryson and Brooks even in Assembly race
Whitney, Johnson and Cullum lead among five school board candidates with about 6,000 ballots counted; CBJ estimates 40-50% of ballots remain to be counted.

Trump’s speech to the Navy could have been one of the most expensive rallies ever…if those sailors were getting paid. Just another unpaid workday for 10,000 sailors.

Trump’s ICE, tariffs and tourism policies are impacting even small, remote towns in Alaska.
