Wow, Laramap is really taking off. I never expected so many fellow developers to sign up. Thanks to this amazing community. Additionally, the first companies have reached out to support the project. Huge thanks to @ploi.io and Chief Tools.

Something I've noticed: strong developers can blend into code bases.

Meaning, the code they contribute matches the style & opinions of the code base. They know how to lean into the strengths of each pattern, and aren't dogmatic about one over the other.

Would any @larabelles.com be interested in going to a Wire:Live pre-hang on the night of October 27th?
That sounds like a not fun experience.

I find myself kinda wishing conferences would hold a pre-conference get together for women/trans/NB folks to meet and find a buddy before it starts. Like a little tea and cookies meet-and-greet before the opening night reception. Just so you have _someone_

Tighten onsite + Laracon was such a fun whirlwind! I had a blast chatting with old and new friends, and once again didn’t get enough photos with people (though I have more than last year)

On Monday a fire ravaged our farm, destroying most of our olive trees and other things. My husband managed to save our shed, our animals & home. I have set up a Go Fund Me to help raise money to start replanting. Any amount, is much appreciated. gofund.me/3dedee6a

At the beginning of the project I'm on, I counseled nuance and only using tools like Form Requests when necessary. Now that the project has matured, I want more standards to be applied across the repo so that things are more predictable and consistent.

SQLite CLI has a CSV mode to import CSVs directly into a table:

sqlite> .mode csv

I cannot retweet this as often as I'd like to.

YOU CAN'T BE WHO YOU CAN'T SEE.

Hey, not-male developers ––
Go out there. BE VISIBLE.
Go to conferences. SPEAK AT CONFERENCES.
Learn things, build things, TELL PEOPLE.

We are part of the tech community. We improve it.

Diversity codes better.
When you grow up with a developer/CTO mom and her friends, choosing tech isn't a brave choice. It's just a standard choice...

And THAT, folks, is the value of visible role models!

So I try to be one, and being honored as one of Norway's 50 leading tech women helps fuel the fire!
