Leslye Headland made a Star Wars that focused on nuanced themes and topics, and because of media illiteracy, the show made it increasingly obvious that Star Wars audiences have been comfortable with the very direct, simple themes up to that point. (Sans andor because I know y’all like to tussle.)

I think another aspect of #oshamir that is so compelling about their relationship, is the fact as individual characters there is so much depth to them. They were the first ship I really enjoy because of that, they can be interesting by themselves but when they come together it's something so unique.

So YES we’ve talked about it before and I just saw a tumblr post that reminded me, but do you ever think about how Indara asks Mae “What are you doing here?” when she’s supposed to be dead, which is very much different from when Vernestra senses Qimir and says “You! You’re alive?!”

I have too many drawings to finish and ideas I need to get out🫠 to the point I need to write a list to organise myself. Vampire oshamir au keeps popping into my head and now I have the urge to pick up writing again, then there's a Cowboy au too...but then there's uni work I need to prioritise too.😪

I saw an interview where Leslye references Frozen as in inspo for the acolyte and says that she was moved by “true love being between sisters as opposed to a heterosexual relationship” and it makes me even more excited to wonder what Mae and Osha’s journeys back to each other would’ve been.

Drawing the storyboards is actually bringing me to tears: drawing younger Qimir with such hurt, betrayal and fear in his eyes as Vern is about to scar him for the rest of his life in such a physical, emotional and mental way.😭
I had a really good animatic idea for both Osha and Qimir relating to their relationships with their former masters. For Qimir I think the song 'mama's boy' and for Osha I'm thinking 'die your daughter'. I really want to be able to encapsulate how they both loved their masters -

Every time I think of the acolyte I’m so grateful because we got a show like that, pushing the boundaries, and it was chock full of writers, producers, musicians, and crew who were black, asian, queer, etc. that is so special these days. Especially when Star Wars doesn’t usually have that.

I'm going to have to go thru a few storyboard variations for this espically if I want to sync lyrics with certain shots and what colours to use. I love being creative!!
