I need to come up with a design for this year's holiday/solstice card, so I spent the day in the basement reorganizing art supplies and throwing out old paperwork. #procrastination

Today is my 20th "Thingaversary," the anniversary of the date I joined www.librarything.com, my favourite place on the Internet.

In honour of this auspicious occasion, I've donated $10 for each year to epl.ca, which is where I get most of the books and audiobooks I read.

Strathearn Community League steps up to recognize beautiful front yards in our neighbourhood! I was thrilled to receive this sign today. #yeg #yeggardening #strathearn #frontyardgardens

Which item should decorate the top of this fence post? Teapot or twisty glass thingie? Whichever I choose will have to be glued in place. #gardendecor #yeg #yeggardening

I have aquired #EdmontonFolkMusicFestival tickets and now I can take the LRT to #AudreysBooks to (surprise!) buy books and the @epldotca.bsky.social booksale to browse and (surprise!) probably buy books. If I visit the downtown farmer's market too, it will be a perfect #yeg Saturday.

Shout-out to Elections Canada mobile polling staff! My mother-in-law was able to vote today in her seniors' residence in west Edmonton. The two EC staff were very kind and helpful. #canpoli #yeg

One of my orchids in bloom today. This is a generic phalaenopsis, but came from a friend so I didn’t know what colour it would be. Very pleased with it! #orchids #phalaenopsis

I made 15 jars of Seville orange marmalade today. It’s delicious and very beautiful. #marmalade

Veg bed layout planning for 2025. Maybe a bit early, but I needed the boost. It will get many revisions before it’s time to plant. #vegetablegardening #gardenplanning #yeggardening

My #DoNothingButReadDay book pile. The ratty thing on top is my ereader. I won’t get through all of these, but I will have a splendid day reading, drinking tea, eating leftovers, and, best of all, avoiding the Boxing Day Sales madness. #boxingday #donothingbutread

Amy has decided that spending a whole evening on my lap is kind of okay. I occasionally even hear faint purrs. This is unusual for her, but I like it :)

One of 2 red-breasted nuthatches that I counted for the #yegchristmasbirdcount in 2024. I also counted 1 downy woodpecker, 15 house finches, 11 house sparrows, 3 magpies, 1 northern flicker, 1 pigeon, and 2 blue jays. #yegbirds #yegwildlife

My second-ever etching, produced in a class at the SNAP Gallery. I’m very pleased with how it turned out.

I am running the Army 10K (part of the Edmonton Marathon) this morning. I didn't run it last year, so this is the first time I'll be taking the Edmonton Valley Line LRT to get there. I used to walk over (and home again after) to avoid paying for parking. This is so much better! #yeg

I wondered why that insect (bee of some kind?) was sticking straight out, and then I looked closer and saw the goldenrod crab spider having it for lunch. #spiders #goldenrodcrabspider #yegwildlife

My plan for the morning (deliving the last of my #yeg Front Yards In Bloom signs) doesn't work well in the rain, but no complaints here! The rain sounds and smells so nice, and maybe we'll get enough that I won't have to water the garden and my rain barrels will fill up again.

A cat (strong suspicion which one, looking at you, Newt) puked on my laptop keyboard yesterday, and now it won't charge and keeps making beeping noises. Sigh.

Shouldn't a funeral be ABOUT the dead and FOR the living? This skeet brought to you by the proselytizing I sat through today that had nothing to do with the person being mourned and everything to do with the officiant's personal agenda.

I took an Introduction to Screenprinting class and this is the final (only) product. I got a bit ambitious for my first major screenprint (7 colours, and registration was a PITA), but I did one simple screenprint last year, and have much experience of lino print. Not perfect, but I'm pleased.
