33% of primary teachers “often/constantly” think about resigning vs 26% of secondary 💼

Teachers whose last lesson was disrupted by behaviour are nearly twice as likely to “constantly” think about leaving (15% vs 8%) and much less likely to “rarely/never” consider it (32% vs 46%).

Weekend marking is rising again: 27% of teachers worked Saturday or Sunday this year (24% last year).

Classroom teachers feel it most, with 28% marking vs 20% of senior leaders 🖊️

How is staff sickness covered in schools? 🤔

Most often by internal staff: 59% primary and 62% secondary.

In secondaries, other classroom teachers are more likely to pick up the work (45% vs 13% in primary).

In primary schools, 93% of teachers in affluent areas report having a PTA vs 44% in the most deprived 💬

In secondary, the gap is even wider: secondary teachers in affluent areas are over 4x more likely to report having a PTA than those in the most deprived schools.

Singing is alive and well in primary schools — 78% of teachers say their pupils sing every week! 🎶

But in secondary, the music fades: just 13% report weekly singing, while over half say students never sing together.
