World Cancer Day is a reminder that outcomes don’t just depend on treatment, they depend on timing.

In Wales, delays in gynaecological cancer care remain severe. In November, only 32% of patients started treatment within the 62-day target, with wide variation between Health Boards.

Heulwen was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in 2022. Yesterday, she shared her story and the wider reality facing people with less survivable cancers with ITV.

These cancers receive less than a fifth of government research funding. It's time to #CloseTheResearchGap.

A 90-second statement on less survivable cancers was led yesterday morning in the Senedd by John Griffiths MS.

These issues often don’t get enough airtime, this one is worth hearing.

As part of #LessSurvivableCancersAwarenessWeek, we were in Westminster standing for the stats.

Less survivable cancers receive just 19% of research funding, despite causing 40% of cancer deaths.

Cancer prevention is cancer care.
That’s why cervical screening matters.

At this month’s Cross Party Group on Cancer, our colleague Greg Pycroft set out the reality of the deadliest cancers in Wales.

Less survivable cancers make up 25% of diagnoses but 40% of deaths, a gap that simply shouldn’t exist. 🧡📊

September is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month.
Jessica’s story shows why women need to be heard.
She was told it was infections. Then prolapse. Then endometriosis.

Months later, a 6.5cm tumour was found.

Jess's Rule will require GPs in England to "think again" if patients return 3 times with unresolved or worsening symptoms, or without a diagnosis.

We would like to see similar ambition here in Wales, to ensure women are safeguarded and listened to. 💜

📢 The most recent gynaecological cancer waiting time figures (July) show a worrying drop in early-stage diagnoses, now just 32.4%, down from 47% in June. Early diagnosis and timely treatment save lives. This backwards step is not acceptable.

On average, patients spend 3 fewer days in hospital after surgery. That’s around £1,500 saved per patient for the NHS.
