Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

It is wild to me that the largest company on the stock market, one with such incredible prestige and a huge PR team got dog-walked here. Why would you EVER give this ANY oxygen? Now everybody is asking whether NVIDIA is like Enron! This didn't help at all!

The fact that the government still insists that they uphold "gender equality" aside from not being "outwardly feminist" is… more revealing than they think. Aside from being pathetically performative, if one thinks about it enough, it's not only misogynistic but super classist

The weather app I use every day, The Weather Network, had an AI chatbot for about a year or so. It got discontinued three months ago. I didn't even release it had happened until yesterday. Beforehand, it had slowly gotten pushed deeper and deeper into the UI. Hopefully, that indicates something.

There is no congruent way to look at generative AI and think “this is the future.” The most well known fact about it is that it messes up all the time, the next being that it loses lots of money.
