Here is the finished piece - Seven plums, in its gilded frame. I decided not to age and tone the gold further as I want this painting to sing!

Seven plums. Oil on copper, 21.5x31.5cm framed.

DM for enquiries.

Three quince fruits with insects and a garden snail. Oil on poplar.
Following Joris Hoefnagel (1542-1600), 23.75ct gold was applied to parts of the butterfly and the bug. The dragonfly and snail are hiding in the background.

Gilding my frames. Some more work needed on the 'holidays' (gaps in the gold). Then a few more steps before the frame is ready. In the meantime I'm painting a sweet little painting of plums which will go well with the gold.

Last painting for '25: Three quinces with insects, 17x30cm, traditional oils. I'm working on the underpainting, adding insects to introduce movement and balance. Available in a week or so, DM if interested.

I've tried the overnight train commute between Richmond and Columbia and it straight up sucks and I don't do it anymore, but if it was a BOOK TRAIN??? That would change everything. Book train! Book train! Book train!

Getting to the end of the underpainting stage (detail). It's always a bit of a relief when things fall into place just before the weekend :)

My replica of Van Der Ast's Zomerschoon tulip painting (1625). The wonderful original painting is at the @mauritshuis_museum. Painted using the pigments he would have used, and @kingswoodframes produced a spectacular replica of the Mauritshuis frame using their replica of a 17thC ripple machine. 1/3

Quickly documenting my fruit from the garden before a variety of people and animals eat them: my Jonkheer red currants. Can't wait to put them in a painting: the most beautiful translucent red.
