Hi, I’m Tania 😊 A little intro 🦋 I’m an avid knitter (love colourwork, cables, texture, learning new techniques), voracious reader, & lover of great quotes. Spent many years as a calligrapher. Enjoy bookbinding too. Love puttering in my flower and veggie garden in summer. 🧶📚🌱🖋️ Say hi in the thread 👋🏻
This week’s #ShowMeYourKnits : What’s on your needles 🧶 I’m working on a Musselburgh hat while traveling. Still plugging away on the Menton 2 pullover for my son. At the swatching stage for my Roost pullover for myself for the Where We Knit KAL.

I wanted to share about an interesting KAL I’m participating in. It’s being hosted on IG. It’s called the Where We Knit KAL. The idea is to knit something inspired by where you live 🧶 I’ve chosen the Roost Pullover by Amy Christoffers and Jamieson’s Spindrift yarn. Details in alt text. #knitsky

This week’s #ShowMeYourKnits prompt: CABLES. I used to only knit cable knit projects. Then I found stranded colourwork 🙃 But I still dabble in cable knits here and there. I’ve gotten somewhat ambitious (and maybe crazy) and am knitting a pullover for my son (that he had better wear!).

#ShowMeYourKnits : KNITTING HORROR STORIES 👻 In 2009 I knit a wool blanket while expecting my 2nd child. It didn’t survive our sleep deprivation after his birth. Felted in the dryer. Only photo is from the hospital 😕 I saved it all these years. Last Xmas my MIL made it into mitts for me ❤️🧶 #knitsky

Finished my Melby Yoke cardigan just in time for the fibre festival 😊 Goodness I love knitting Fair Isle!
Off to take in the last day of the festival 😊

Had a wonderful 2 days of learning at the PEI Fibre Fest in Charlottetown. Thoroughly enjoyed the marketplace and picked up special items to add to my tools and stash. Learned about how to work better with hand painted yarn, took an intro to intarsia, and learned to make Dorset buttons. #knitsky 🧶

Excited to attend our local fibre festival this week! Have 3 interesting classes and a great festival marketplace to enjoy. Cast on my 2nd Musselburgh hat to have a portable knit to take with me. Still need to knit the button bands on my cardigan, and am working on a cable knit for my son 🧶

This week’s #ShowMeYourKnits theme is HATS 😊🧶 I’ve knit many a hat! Here are just four (and one isn’t quite finished yet). Colourwork and cables make for fun hats to knit 😊 Details in alt text.

This past weekend’s #ShowMeYourKnits prompt included things you knit that bring JOY ✨ I have to say that for the most part, all my knits have brought me joy and comfort too. I am particularly happy when knitting colourwork and when mastering a new to me knitting skill (most recently lace).

#ShowMeYourKnits prompt this past weekend was knits that brought joy or that I’d knit to care for others. I thought I’d share 2 hats (modeled by me) that I knit for two special people who were fighting cancer. Both have sadly since succumbed to the disease 💔

Also, went to a small locally owned toy store that has a wee yarn corner. Only needed 2.75mm DPNs 🙃 but these lace skeins of malabrigo were so gorgeous that I brought them home too 😍🧶

Summer’s end and back to school grind caught up with me. Haven’t shared much knitting lately. I knit a lot of small things this summer…kerchiefs and shawls as gifts. Easy to pick up & put down, not too taxing. Back to knitting my Melby Yoke cardi now. Loads of stockinette to get through 🙃

This week’s #ShowMeYourKnits theme is BABY 😊 There’s nothing quite so satisfying as knitting up a baby sweater in a fraction of the time of an adult one! Here are a few of my recent ones. Antler cardigan by Tin Can Knits, Curlicue Yoke and also Fox Baby yoke both by Claudia Quintanilla.

This week’s #ShowMeYourKnits prompt is SHAWLS 🧶 I have great fun knitting shawls in between sweaters and cardigans and other accessories. There are so many wonderful patterns out there! These are only a few of the ones that I’ve knit in the last year or so. More details in alt text.

I recently paused knitting my 2nd Sea Faerdy vest while traveling. I took along a super portable project, the Snaraness kerchief 🧶 I knit my 1st one in fingering weight yarn (Jamieson’s Spindrift) while waiting for my lace weight yarn to arrive (Fleece and Harmony Eldon lace). A fun knit!

I was finally able to take a somewhat decent photo of my Foliosa shawl by Justyna Lorkowska 😊 It’s a design full of lovely details and I really enjoyed knitting it. I did find knitting with the lace weight yarn was hard on my hands. I had to take a break for a week or so after I finished! #knitsky

My adventures in colourwork continue 😊 I’m still working on my 2nd Sea Faerdy vest in the light colour scheme. I’m also swatching for the Melby Yoke cardigan 🧶 Going with the bright and happy colour scheme. Did a few experiments in my swatch and the final decision was an easy one for me 😊

This week’s #ShowMeYourKnits prompt is GARTER STITCH 😊 I’ve knit a number of lovely shawls that incorporate it. I love the portability of a garter st project. Some of my colourwork projects aren’t as easy to lug around. It’s nice to have a mix of projects on my needles. Details in alt text.

Working on my 3rd Aestlight shawl 🧶 (a gift) Using Briggs & Little Sport in Sheep’s Grey. Why I enjoy the pattern: it’s portable & easy when knitting the garter st 🔺; the Bird’s Eye lace is fun to knit; the edging was a new skill for me (knit perpendicular to the initial knitting). #knitsky

This week’s #ShowMeYourKnits theme is YELLOW 🌞 Would you believe that I’ve literally never knit anything with yellow as MC? These were the only projects I could find in my Ravelry projects list that had yellow in them (other than a few shawls knit in hand dyed yarn with touches of yellow) 🙃 #knitsky

My 2 swatches for the Sea Faerdy vest. The pattern includes 2 charted colour schemes: one with a dark MC and one with a light MC. My swatches aren’t exact matches to the pattern colour schemes for 2 reasons: difficulty in finding certain colours available, and personal choice. #knitsky

I enjoyed knitting the Sea Faerdy vest so much that I decided to swatch in the second colour scheme just for fun 😊 I love how changing up the colours accentuates different parts of the pattern when compared to the first colour scheme that I knit 🧶

#Knitsky did you mark Worldwide Knit in Public Day? I only learned of it few yrs ago. Most of my knitting life I knit at home. A few yrs ago, a group met in a local park (in 10°C 🥶). Last year we met in a cafe. This year I met a lovely friend at a park. Always nice to gather with fellow knitters 😊🧶
