This lovely, gentle scene shows a young woman - from the waist up - her golden-brown hair swept up in a gently braided style. She’s wearing a gauzy white shawl over a white dress and has - gathered in her hands - a bunch of white Love In A Mist flowers she must have picked. She’s looking contemplative as she admires their delicate beauty - which seems to match her own. Tucked in her hair are 2 more Love In A Mist blooms, but of a light blue colour. She appears to be standing in a field at the edge of an Impressionistic style woodland that forms the background behind her. A very gentle and beautiful scene…although her expression could be interpreted as either simple admiration of the flowers she’s picked…or an almost poignant sadness. Perhaps there is no Love - in a mist or otherwise - in her life. But we may he reading too much into her cryptically thoughtful expression… The next image is a closeup photo of a real, single purple Love In A Mist bloom, taken by my partner last Summer. We get lots of these in our little front garden. To be honest, I’d not known there were other colour varieties - like the white ones in this painting- as we’ve only ever seen deep purple or blueish ones. Bougereau depicts Dawn as a beautiful woman with very long and wavy, dark brown hair, hovering above a pond as she turns to sniff the scent of a tall Calla lily. She is naked, apart from a wispy, transparent, long white cloth-held high above her head by her left hand-the diaphanous cloth drapes down and about her curvaceous body, around her right hip, crossing over to just cover her nether region and cling to her long legs. She appears to dance in mid-air, the toes of her right foot almost - but not quite - touching the water, her foot reflected on its surface. Lush green and leafy water plants surround the pond. As one would expect for Her Time of Day, the sky in the background is pale rose above a deep blue edge on the distant horizon; this pale pink blends seamlessly into the lightening sky above: the beginnings of Day and pale blue sky high overhead. We find this delicate portrayal exquisitely beautiful. But then Bougereau has long been one of our favourite artists. ~tamisar💞

Free image of a huge blue and white fireworks display. Yes, I know there are thousands of properly run displays going on all over the world. But your average person in too many places can also buy their own & set them off at any time tonight, wherever you and your pet(s) may be. Both kinds of fireworks have the same traumatic effects on animals. I really hope you can access the RSPCA’s advice page on how to help your dogs and cats cope with one of the worst nights of every year for them. There’s lots of good tips & if you love your pet, please, DO read up so you can give them the special protection and care they desperately need. While it’s too late to “desensitise” your pet to loud noises, there’s lots of ways You CAN HELP them get thru this night, wherever you live, all over the world. Please, people, PLEASE 🙏 read this ASAP & do whatever you can. This may be Party Night for humans but it is sheer hell for animals of all kinds. The RSPCA page deals with dogs first, but if you’re a cat owner, just scroll way down & you’ll find advice for them, too. Some of these tips can apply to other pets, such as rabbits, guinea pigs…even horses. ALL of them wind up being traumatised by this stuff that, yes, people find beautiful, exciting and absolutely essential for New Year’s Eve. But it’s not the case for your pets, so please, please take special steps while you can & give your pets the care, comfort, safe space, peaceful music and protected places they need tonight. I’m PLEADING WITH ALL OF YOU - If you LOVE YOUR PET, LOOK AFTER THEM & take SPECIAL CARE OF THEM TONIGHT, wherever on this world you live. 🙏-tam💞

Nothing here is the same now. He’s been gone many yrs; even the fence is changed. But, as Harry Nilsson once sang/✍️“Long ago, far away…Life was clear, close your eyes…Remember…” We do🥹❤️ #cats #snow
A photo -taken by my partner in 2010 - of our boy. (I never refer to him by name online deliberately). A ginger and white rescue cat, he was quite huge -not overweight, just quite big for any cat. Here he is in our conservatory, sitting on a leopard-print pillow on a chair, looking out the glass back doors at all the snow that had covered everything out back overnight. He seemed amazed by it all and no wonder. Having been born a stray in the Middle East, he didn’t see snow until we moved back to my partner’s home country 🇬🇧. Here he’s peering around the pulled back, greying, voile curtains and door frames, looking out in astonishment at all that weird white stuff covering everything…and making that (still useless) conservatory chilly. Absolutely everything in these photos has changed completely. A bird table now stands where there once was the snow-covered set of 4 dark green plastic chairs & table seen in both photos. The doors have been replaced, as has the fence seen in the next photo; everything inside and out is changed…But most of all, He’s gone…And although he could be the most ornery cat, We loved him and seeing these brings both smiles but also tears to my eyes. I’ve wished we could adopt again, but…our lives have changed dramatically since. The house-too used to being cat-less-is overstuffed. And my health has deteriorated so much. I still hope, maybe one day…for now, life…indeed, everything, has changed. But we’ll always remember him. 🥹❤️🐈 -tam💞 Here, the curtains have been pulled aside so our ginger & white white boy cat could get a better look at the snowy scene out back. He’s now standing up on his hind legs on that chair, his front paws resting on the top of the old wooden chair’s back. Those awful, greying voile curtains-left by the previous owners of our house-are all knotted up to give him ample space to look out. During summers, he would sit on different furniture we had in that glass room and watch the birds, “chit-chit-chittering” away when he saw any, as cats do. The song I referenced in the main post is a beautiful and poignant one written & sung by the late Harry Nilsson. It’s called “Remember (Christmas).” If you stream music, you can probably find it on Spotify or whatever service you use. I Highly recommend it, but…make sure you have tissues to hand before you listen…because it will make you cry, it’s so sweetly sad yet beautiful. With love to everyone out there missing someone…feline or otherwise…as another year comes to a close. We’ve not had snow yet, though it’s cold here…we’ll see. -tam💞

#Periwinkles -more #flowers braving #Winter in our #garden Out back, Periwinkles are spreading their glossy-green-leafed vines along our fence, bearing lovely, star-shaped, pale lilac #blooms w/white centres. But we’ll need to keep them in check! #Garden4Wildlife #photography by my partner. -tam💞
This glimpse of what’s a rapidly spreading vine of Periwinkles is full of more glossy, pointed green foliage than flowers. But the three little, pale lilac coloured blooms, which have 5 point-tipped petals making a star-shape - with white at the centre - are lovely against that vast green background. These vines are growing low, along the fence, in our small back garden and have actually crept in - a free gift, thanks to Nature - from the alleyway behind our house. They flourish like mad out there, so we will need to keep an eye on them or they’ll overtake as much space as there is to be had! Still, it’s nice to see such Spring-like colour on these barren, cold & grey days of Winter. My partner took this photo, as well as some others with more blooms on them. But this little trio looked loveliest. 🥰-tam💞

#Christmas #Rose - not what you’d think of as one, but this part-nibbled #Hellebore is a.k.a. A Christmas Rose & #blooming on the day. We’re not worried about🐌/slugs nibbling: there are plenty of pink #buds waiting to open yet. Great #flowers for overwintering #bees #Garden4Wildlife
Closeup photo-taken by my partner-of a cream-coloured, five-petalled Hellebore flower. As buds, they are a roseate pink-and there are several of those yet to open nearby. But once they do blossom, the roundish petals of this variety are mostly cream-white, with some tinges of pink & even pale green on one petal, which has a tiny hole and a curved out area that show snails and/or slugs have been having a nibble. No worries: not only are there more flowers about to open, the important part -for bees, that is- will stay intact in its greenish yellow centre. These Hellebores were planted years ago (we also have ones that do open to be a dusky rose colour). They’ve continued to bloom -and spread- each Winter and will do so for months to come, providing a much needed source of “food” for overwintering bees & pollinators. Amazingly hardy, they’ll even last thru a coating of snow (brush them free after). At present, it’s turned very cold where we are, yet Life continues to appear & give Hope. These grow in our tiny front garden. Periwinkles are blooming wildly in our small back garden (photo to come in another post). We’re also seeing the first bright red Quince flowers start to appear-waiting for more of them to open before we try for a photo. Garden For Wildlife-especially in Winter, when they need help more than ever. Plants like these & other Winter-flowering varieties are such a boon. We’ve also upped the bird feeding a bit with more buggy suet pellets & coconut shells full of suet, bugs, etc: just the kind of extra energy birds-especially the smallest-need to survive the cold. (Note: We do take coconut shells down overnight, to keep from luring unwelcome vermin- i.e. rats). Please Garden For Wildlife, however you can. In a world increasingly built over-with habitats rapidly disappearing-bees, butterflies, pollinators, birds & so many forms of wildlife (that includes snails & slugs-vital to ecosystems) need all the help we can give them, however we can. 🙏 ~tam💞

The snow has a beautiful bluish tint to it, as the Sun is yet to appear. But the soft peach tones of the sky herald the coming of a new day. And each day, no matter what else may be going on, We must find some reason to go on, to find Hope even where and when all seems hopeless. Under all this snow there’s still Life, waiting to emerge again, in time. Whatever you’re going through, know you’re not alone. Whilst We can’t fix whatever’s broken ourselves, We can - and Do - send everyone out there who’s feeling downhearted today So Much Love 💕 with the wish that you find the strength you feel you’ve lost return and with it the courage to rise…Like the smallest plant, holding on beneath the chilling snow: it still lives and, one day, will push through to grow again. Hold on, Please Hold On today. And keep a place in your broken heart for that seedling of Hope to grow. One Day At A Time, we’ll get through. Love and hugs ~tamisar💞
